You're welcome. I re-downloaded the CDOT Mobile App. Navigating it is still a flustercluck.

    Cheers,

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

Along with the lame check your tires campaign (flyers on windshields, really?) they should do a campaign about how holding up traffic in the left is illegal and about moving over after passing, even if there's a truck 1/4 mile up. The cluelessness of drivers going slow in the left just amazes me, especially when there's clear road in the right lane.

There's some weird communal idocracy on i70. Coming home Saturday from the basin, completely dry roads, and the whole way down the left and then left two lanes were packed, with very few people in the right lane. You just wonder what exactly goes through these people heads while they're driving. My theory is nothing. If you leave early enough its usually easy enough to make your way through though, course ever few miles there will actually be someone in the right who's also going very slow. Or the right lane will be clear, and someone will merge right simply to go the same speed as they were in the left lane. No way to win...

When the tunnel approach is jam packed, the right lane is huge, as everyone is merging left and every semi they signal through is multiple car lengths.

Honestly, for every slowpoke who stays in the left a little too long, there’s some asshole who wants to treat the road as their personal Talladega and drives way too aggressively. It all evens out.

Well, the left lane is the fast lane, so I'll get there faster because I'm in the fast lane. It's simple physics.

the great thing about politicians is they can come up with all kinds of feel good laws and pat themselves on the back and talk about how they made the world a better place

but who and how and where is the money coming from to enforce such a stupid law? are we going to spend 10 mil and hire 80 people to check tires before anyone gets on the highway? there is already a law on the books if you get in an accident you can be issued a ticker for unsafe equipment

    politicians are idiots

Pretty sure you'd only be cited under the current laws if you were running on bald tires or the like. IMO, passive enforcement would be the best policy. It would require no additional manpower. You get in a wreck or get suck requiring assistance and you're found to be running improper equipment, bang - ticket. Word would gradually get around. It wouldn't eliminate the idiot problem, but it would at least help to curb it IMO.

I70 WB shutdown from Georgetown to Silverthorne. CDOT should probably just leave it closed for the weekend.

Is this a new record from storm start to I-70 closing? I think it was literally an hour.

Gotta be close. I remember last season the Sunday (2/9?) it took some people 9 hours from Vail to Denver, that Vail Pass was shutdown within an hour of the snow cranking back up in the a.m.

That's amazingly fast. I'd love to ski tomorrow but I think I'll be sipping coffee and chuckling at traffic maps instead. Hopefully Sunday is bearable.

I left Denver at 11 and was in summit by 12:30. The road was barely wet, and there were a few flurries.

Either there was a nuclear flash blizzard of epic proportions in the meantime, or driving skills have reached an all time low. Imma bet on the latter.

I don't see any signs of an accident or stranded vehicles in the CDOT cameras between Gtown & the tunnel. And now I can't get the CDOT website to work. What are they hiding out there?
