Because the pure laziness of driver mentality (for the vast majority) dictates that you don't exert brain power trying to change lanes, thus, having to drive in the far-right lane would eventually cause someone to have to pass a truck and change lanes.

If you tried to pull that shit on Red Mountain Pass the plow drivers would send you over the edge into the Uncompahgre Gorge.
This seems to be a growing demographic on Berthoud the last couple years!

Only if "the right" is a shoulder. If it's a travel lane then pass everyone on the right, as is customary on I-70.

I haven't bothered to head over there much since high school. It's an absolute mess, and I'm not even talking about the jerry's just skiing from the parking lot with no gear, they've always been there.

2 hours and 15 fucking minutes from Georgetown to the tunnel on a Tuesday afternoon..... It never ceases to amaze me that Coloradans have absolutely no clue how to drive with a little snow on the road. Absolutely worthless.

Did anything happen in Loveland Pass about an hour ago? Passed by on I70 and they were holding traffic at the top of the hour because the pass was closed. Once through, there was a flight for life taking off from Loveland and rescue vehicles heading up the pass...

This is the year the majority of the tourons don’t leave after the new year. Still in pretty heavy effect.

I was at Eldora on Monday. I was stunned how many people were there. It wasn't a zoo because they are doing reservations, but there were WAY more people than would normally be there. Winter break is over people, go home!

Word from the official skier count's at Winterpark is that Monday is the new Friday, I say get used to it and embrace it. Colorado, especially in COVID times, doesn't have a business issue, we have a capacity issue. The whole Stop the Spread Save our Season and reservation system is encouraging off peak visitation.

Look Lumberg straight in the face and say that unless he lets his team flex out weekdays to go skiing, he is part of the COVID problem. I know it's not cool to be a glass half full guy, specially if it cramps your own style, but this is an opportunity.

All ya'll front rangers need to get off this ski Saturday and Sunday thing. It is what will make it sustainable for the rest of your lives. Talk to the school district, talk to your boss, make it happen.

I went to Winter Park on Monday to do some uphill access and was blown away by how busy it was and how long the lines were.

The ski areas are busy because of the reservation system... it's essentially evening out the traffic they see on the weekends and pushing that excess to Thu/Fri and Monday, which are the easier days to take off for folks who work "normal" business hours.

copper was nice yesterday, weather was fucking fantastic. fed a troller who saw the lunch spread and had to partake, got to keep red jackets in positive vibes. 70 did not suck. I adapt, adjust to the realities of CO front range living.

looks like a dry spell for a bit, sigh

Many schools were off Monday and Tuesday this week. I'm guessing (hoping) it will die down a bit now.

Yeah, there's no doubt that the combo of the reservation systems and WFH for many people ARE spreading out the crowds into weekdays. Some school districts are having no school on Monday which adds to it (oh, excuse me, Monday is an asynchronous learning day in the parlance of our times). I also saw quite a few TX plates at Eldora, so I think vacation (or long term visits or whatever) patterns are also changed. Hey, I'm guilty as charged too. Just like it was weird to see lots of people on the trails during working hours all summer long, it's weird to see all the people at the resort on a weekday. But I totally get that it's just like the admonition about traffic, you're not in traffic, you are traffic.

I'm not bitching, just observing. But I would like the TX plates to go home.

They all bought houses here, and aren't going anywhere.

The saving grace of this season is that you can be adamant about not sharing a chairlift with anyone. If I had to listen to some shitstain talk about how they bought a house out here, or got a LTR to live in for a year to "avoid COVID" I would snap.

The last two days in Breck haven’t been so bad, the line for 6 chair was minimal considering it was crazy last Thursday/Friday when it opened.

I have noticed the difference in Monday’s being busier though, Tuesday seems to be a stark contrast. I’ve had Monday/Tuesday off for the last 10 years so I can safely say Monday is changing. Guess I’ll have to go to Tuesday/Wednesday...

Has Saturday traffic been normal or is it any thinner because people are spreading out during different days?
