Meanwhile, Pali was open and skiing fine yesterday, as long as you could avoid small trees, willows, and many rocks. Good fun.

Had reservations and rolled up to Keystone and saw the lot was full and said nope! Canceled reservation and B-lined for the Basin, parked 100 ft from the lift, skied onto the lift, no lines all day. Basin definitely need a little snow though to open more terrain and to make the already open terrain less ummm, precarious.

Enjoy the traffic today folks. Should be Epic™!

But yeah, I don’t bother going to Loveland until January at the earliest. The Ridge is really fun but it takes forever to get it all open and then boom, season over.
yeah but Loveland is literally on i70.

I usually just find a free 4 pack ticket to use in the spring. I honestly think it's that they've had the same patrollers for so long that they're just old and lazy as shit these days.

I have heard a few stories over the last several years, all from Ferris Bueller's best friend's sister's cousin, but I'm pretty sure you can blame the patrol director and whoever is in charge of risk management.
A lot of the pro patrollers would like to open shit.
But the parking lot is full every weekend so why would they care about changing what they're doing?

2 hours Denver to Loveland. Wet roads but not snow packed. I thought all the resorts were full? Good to know reservations haven’t changed this 70 shit show.

Could be worse, a few inches of snow shuts down Mt. Baldy road.
My favorite part was someone trying to push a Challenger uphill.

Late ~7:00am. Thought maybe the lack of available Epikonic reservations and it being a Tuesday would help. Apparently not.

Thankfully Loveland skied well - although pretty busy. Need to get more lifts open to spread people out a bit more.

Since almost no one on I -70 who is anybody ever gets in the right lane, it doesn’t take anything to create a jam but one car mormon roadblocking next to a semi. And you couldnt ask him to get in the right lane since no one else is.

2.5 to A-Basin, the pass was closed when I rolled through, so that backed up traffic when they ran the haz mat trucks through the tunnel. The Brinks truck wreck didn’t help either.

Abasin seemed to do well on ticket sales today. Long lines at the window even when I cut out around 12:30. Lots of tourists who couldn’t get VR reservations maybe (or didn’t want to pay $200)?

Made a pilgramage from WP to Durango today so it is time for my once in every couple years bitch about I70/Front Range traffic post.

What the fuck is with the assholes on Berthoud Pass? I get that it is a two lane road going up, but the brobrah's in their lifted tundra's dragging huge sled trailers nearly clipping every car (and the fuckin PLOW?!) coming downhill scared me shitless today. If you tried to pull that shit on Red Mountain Pass the plow drivers would send you over the edge into the Uncompahgre Gorge. Not to mention the two sideways pontiacs who were being pushed by some bystanders up the hill on the drier I70 side of the pass. I sure hope they somehow made it down the otherside without sliding into oncoming traffic.

I70 of course was terrible for seemingly no reason between Georgetown and the tunnel. Added a solid hour plus to my drive... What's it with folks and swapping lanes with every little opening causing people behind them to have to slam on their brakes? You're already late to first chair at A-BAY... just chill in one lane for a while FFS.

I saw eight cars and two semitrucks off the road today, including a gnarly looking head on crash on Poncha Pass. Lots of EMS on that one. Looked really bad.

I genuinely have no idea how you all deal with the Front Range driving shit show. This was the first time in a few years I've done I70 winter driving, and I was on edge the whole time. Not because of the road conditions, but because everyone around you seems ready to run you off the road. I'd rather drive Red Mountain Pass in a blinding storm with 12 inches on the road 100 times then spend a year driving I70 and the surrounding roads daily.

    Rant over.

Question for the group (seem relevant enough for this thread)... Whats the thinking on pulling someone outta the ditch? I carry a snatch strap and shackle and have pulled a few strangers out. One was an old RV by its axle. But I've heard that with so many modern cars lacking a legit recovery point and axles also being fancier/more fragile now, that it's just too big a liability. Thoughts? And not the ethics of helping or not. Lets start with wanting to help, but question of pulling vs just digging/pushing

Yeah all cars and trucks have tow points. Whether the owners know where they are located is the big question.

I'll get them out if it is pretty remote or in my neighborhood. On the highway? Take a lap beater.

If there is an obvious tow point and it is a side street, pull off or some where remote I will help pull them out. I am not risking my safety or pulling an axle off a Hyundai.

When there’s 3 lanes, why is there such an aversion to driving in the far right lane? I cruised at 80 for about 10 miles without encountering another car this morning. The

I know you’re not supposed to pass on the right, but who’s more in the wrong? Me passing cars in the right lane or all the people cruising 60 in the middle and left lanes that aren’t passing anybody?

I dropped a few F bombs on some bitch from Texas that ran into me on CR 83 a few days ago. It felt good. The cursing, not the getting hit.

Those right lanes are for lessor drivers, not the brohbrahs, YUPPIEs, etc.

You are under no obligation to leave the right lane to go past cars traveling in the other lanes and not passing anyone, other than speed limits of course.
