Working remotely 100% of the time (well, 99.95%) really has gotten me spoiled. I'm irritated almost ANY time I have to go out on the highways nowadays...

I'd rather blow my brains out than sit at a desk writing code all day long... I don't know how "software engineers" do it. I get the importance and challenge of some of their jobs, but holy shit I can't think of anything less fun.

Writing code while blazed on amphetamines and monster energy is the bomb man. I'm gonna retire at 45 years old. My BMW matches my garage door color in Frisco. Living large and no gold diggers in my way.

unfortunately your right, watching too many of these "tech" people buying property at over inflated prices, it's pretty sad, guess no one tells them in code school to buy low sell high, happens every cycle and they are at the front of the line when prices go through the roof

Unfortunately, Denver was ranked No 1 again for the best place to live by US News/World Report. The influx is just going to go on and on...

It's good for RE prices... if you already own property.

What's crazy is that people still seem to think $95k is a lot of money. You think those dudes got masters degrees in data structures so they could shop at Brooks Brothers and drive a 3 series?

Thankfully I do. But the traffic. Oh the traffic. Our infrastructure is so completely overwhelmed it's scary. 25 reminds me of the 405 in LA these days.

I always hear this and it is just silly. Rising RE does not help property owners unless they intend to move to a market that has appreciated at a lower rate... all it does is increase their property taxes.

Agreed.... I just assumed that was implied (and I was actually going to add that to my original post but decided not to). Of course I'd never sell my house in order to move somewhere else in the same over-inflated market.

Not exactly true. While I do intend to retire elsewhere, so the rising values do help me, not all areas of the metro area start at the same point or rise at the same rate. So the rising values would help me if I wanted to move from, say, boulder to Lafayette. But still I get your point, and it's a valid one, just not as blanket as you make it seem.

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

Can someone explain to me why there are plans to submerge I70 north of Denver? Why not use that money to help fix the I70 problem between Evergreen and the tunnel?

Boston submerged their highway and aside from some new parkland, the project was a multi-billion dollar corrupt disaster and now people are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic underground.

Did you catch the piece on NPR where they half admitted they have no drainage plan for 2013 style thunderstorms? Something to the effect that those were a 100 year event, so they weren't factoring it into their engineering.

It's not good. You can sell but then have to buy something at inflated prices. Unless you move somewhere shitty

Snowshow - did you read the project summary?$1.2 billion is for the entire corridor reconstruction from Tower to I25. Only a small section is dropped below grade, and the capped section is 3 blocks. In terms of priority, yeah, it's a bit of mess going across the city on 70 five days out of the week, that's more critical for Colorado infrastructure improvement than improving the Floyd Hill to Eisenhower Tunnel Shuffle. I do have questions about if the cap will give a boost to the Elyria Swanson neighborhood, but it's certainly going to be nicer than trying to cross under that viaduct.

2013 storm put down like 4" in Denver, but go ahead with your concern that these below grade highways will resemble the St Vrain when a 1,000 year rain event occurs.

How many hundreds of millions of the below grade?
How many hundreds of millions on the giant-bridge-that-is-a-park?
And how many millions would it take to get a drainage plan?
