First off, there's one instance for which Cat Tracks are a good idea, as in my case. I have horrendously bad feet and lower legs for skiing. (Wide feet with high arches and very big calves = no advanced/expert boots out there for me, only beginner boots.) As such, I've held onto the same pair of boots (after trying many others) for about 7-8 years now. A couple of years ago, I started going through the processess of replacing them. After having experienced, well qualified bootfitters tell me repetitively that they can't help me and that I should take up snowboarding, I finally found found one that seems to have it right. I've already spent hundreds of dollars AFTER I bought the boots (not including the previous pairs I bought, had altered and then returned) and literally hundreds of hours in this boot shop (not including the hundreds of hours spent in other boot shops), they're nearly perfect.Originally Posted by INDY GS
The only reason I'm getting new boots is because the heel and toes of my old boots are worn down so much that they're loose in my bindings, and now even some shops won't mount skis with my boots (that's saying a lot because nearly every shop looks the other way when you bring in worn, out of spec boots when mounting bindings).
I wish I had Cat Tracks and had worn them more often with my old boots. Will I wear them with my new boots? I certainly will for a while, until I get lazy and/or forget and then start pissing and moaning when I have to go through this whole long and painful (literally) process again a few years from now.

Ditto. Surveyer's flagging tape works dandy, and costs only $2 for 100 feet of it.Originally Posted by Spats
Yeah, I said "end of discussion" in the previous post, but this thread is damn funny, and I truthfully don't want it to die yet...
what about twin tips? do we mount those perpendicular to the direction of motion?Originally Posted by Huckwheat

Cause powder chords are GAPER TOOLS and we like to mock gapers so when I see you in the tram line next time with your gaper tools I'll mock you, point, round up my posse to point you out in your silly one piece with powder chords and then we'll ridicule you until you cry like a little school girl.Originally Posted by L8APX

As for cat tracks - I use them when I'm at The Canyons. You friggin' have to walk about a 1/4 mile on assfault to get to the gondola. Rips the shiz outta your boots. There was a ticket guy there that made fun of me saying, "uh, do yu hav ze boooot savers?" every time he saw me. Those silly things have kept my boots solid for nearly 3 seasons. (well that and my Surefoot Foam liners)</>

For God's sake man, didn't the store that sold them to you tell you? You either have to get a roof box or transport them inside the vehicle.Originally Posted by road trip
Clearly, you should put it in reverse. Solves the problem entirely.Originally Posted by road trip
While I can not explain why I have such a deep seated dislike for pow cords, today they made my day. Getting on the tram the guy in front of me is dragging his powder cords from his rental skis. He has the cords wrapped around the heel piece of his bindings.... I keep thinking of stepping on them and watching him drop all his shit, but I just couldnt do it. But then HE steps on his own pow cord. But he doesnt drop his gear cuz it pulls the rental heel piece off and he just stands there staring at it. God I wish I had his expression on filmAs for those that want me to explain why I hate pow cords, you just wont understand... But for the record, Baldy was kind of deep today

"I dont hike.... my legs are too heavy"
Cause some dumass east coast resort design "genius" didn't plan for a base lodge - so there isn't one. The most "ah shit" resort layout and infrastructure ever is at The Canyons.Originally Posted by KQ

Prof - we need tram line survelance camera footage to see that one! Nice

for people who walk considerable distance in their ski boots, cat tracks are fine. I am merely mocking the fact that some people feel they need them on to walk on a snow covered parking lot for 200 feet before they put their new boots into their new bindings that they will replace after another 10-20 days of skiing. The same ahole does'nt feel the need to tune his skis, because they were brand new at the beginning of the season, and he wonders why he is slow and the edges are rusty. [/rant on this dude]
viva la marking tape...on deep days...if I remember...if not, the DIN is cranked so my leg will break off before a release.
I agree with the nylon marking tape idea. I use it all the time. In fact, since it comes in rolls of 100 feet, I usually use the whoe thing at once, fifty feet per ski.
And I refuse to tuck it into my pants, Just let 'em fly!
You know what the obvious solution to all this is; take up tele! Vibram soles take care of the cat tracks, and non-releaseability and leashes take care of the cords. Case closed.

Polish? Like Plake?
More of a pet peeve but Tram Scorpions sometimes drive me bananas.
The people who carry their poles parallel to the ground when in line, each step they take, their scorpion tail keeps trying to STING my johnson. Man hold your poles upright.![]()

1. Their outfits either make them walk like the little brother in A Christmas Story or
2. feel that because they have boots on and snow clothes, that they are required to waddle around like that dude.

Love the scorpoions comment - didnt know that had a name, but it peeves me.
Same folks when walking up stairs hold their poles horizontal to poke your eyes out.
Add to that, folks that swing their tips up to eye level when polling on a traverse, wildly flailing and swinging with every push.
Keep 'em low!!
Thats fantastic.
No.
