Sounds like your type of people tho. But they may not be too into van hobos, check with them and report back.
My views are more nuanced than simply picking blue team or red team. I think both of the major parties largely suck taint. I find it especially gross that the party claiming Trump will end democracy has behaved extremely undemocratically for quite some time. The Dems have absolutely refused to entertain any idea of a real primary for at least the last 3 cycles and have become a disgusting conglomeration of sociopaths and kleptocrats. I thought that HRC losing could be enough to get them to look in the mirror and enact some real reform, but instead they've doubled down. Their insistence on running Joe again when he's so obviously cooked is a great display of how amazingly inept they are.

Are you aware that the US is an outlier among democracies in actually holding primaries, and that it didn’t always either? Canada is still a democracy, the vast majority of European countries that don’t hold primaries are still fucking democracies.

You know what ends democracy? Trying to remain in in power after loosing an election by any means possible, which Trump tried to do, and Vance has said he would have supported unlike Pence.

And Trump is out there everyday signaling he’s going to try it again if he doesn’t win on votes.

So fuck your ‘nuance’; it’s anything but.

So before vanguy distracted me.... I'm really curious about how someone who doesn't hold their political views, squares that circle... I'll give a personal example:

A ways back, I thought a particular type of land access change had merit. It'd require congress. Well, the only congress people who signed on to this were basically Sagebrush Rebellion types who were trying to do anything and everything to weaken public land. This was an inroads to that end.

Now, it was clear to me that politically - these guys had nothing in common with me or my interests - not on any topic... their positions and legislation were garbage.. So it gave me pause. I wasn't going to align with these nuts even if there was a short term potential personal gain. Now, time has passed and I have a more comprehensive view of the topic and have a better appreciation of the original legislation and why it was drafted. I'm much more sensitive to the protections and benefits in public lands... point being, one's enthusiasm and singular passion might lead to your exploitation. If I differed on 99.9% of policy with someone who is now telling me what I want to hear, my skepticism and bullshit meter is going full blast.

Nothing wrong with that, as long as it’s consensual.

The bitcoin network was unaffected by the recent internet outage.

My home work station and Dropbox account functioned perfectly.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Keep on talking about how high availability is a differentiator for BTC.
Just in the last year alone I've had two credit card numbers stolen due to my banks fault. I had my credit card transactions blocked on vacation and still blocked after I confirmed I was trying to use my card. Never had a BTC transaction fail a single time.

I just shaved off a few flakes of my gold nugget to pay for lunch at the mid-mountain lodge and then dropped in switch to the road.

Also, I asked this upthread, how much money did you lose? This is genuinely interesting to me because the allegation is that your money isn’t safe but the example provided just proves that your money is safe in a way it would never be in a decentralized paradigm.
And your occasionally blocked card still works a thousand times better than your crypto wallet to buy umbrella drinks at your vacation bar.

My comments were in response to the crowdstrike discussion and the fact that the BTC network has extremely robust uptime.

Why are you asking me a question that you know the answer to? Of course I didn't lose any dollars, but I lost part of my vacation talking to my fucking bank on the phone multiple times. After the first time my card was blocked I was literally told that my card would work after talking to them once and then I had to call them again after it was still blocked. This is extra annoying considering many banks have stated that we don't need to set travel alerts because their ML algos are smart enough to know when we travel.

There is no reason for me to spend the superior asset, BTC, on trivial purchases. I don't need censorship resistant money that is becoming more valuable over time to buy an acai bowl when I can spend devaluing USD. I'm a financially privileged North American. My BTC use case (SOV) for now is different than what other people's use cases may be. I don't know why that is so hard for you to understand.

    Bitcoin....who's gotten into it?

Sure - when your credit card isn’t working you don’t want spend $15 of BTC on that açaí bowl because in a year that may be worth $20. Better to spend hours on the phone with the bank.

And also you avoid getting laughed at when you ask the waiter “do you accept bitcoin as payment?”

Wait, wut? This is bizarre. Because money is supposed to be fungible, it shouldn't make any difference if a person spends USD or BTC unless one currency is better versus the other at being a currency, right? Otherwise, doesn't spending an equivalent amount of USD or BTC carry the same opportunity cost when it comes to relying on one or the other as a store of value?
