    Photoshop Elements

I have Lightroom 4 and looking for something that can stitch photos and do layering. Elements seems like a good value compared to the full version. Does anyone have experience with it? Does it do what a novice picture taker (photographer sounds like I know what I'm doing) will need? Does it fall short anywhere?

I don't have the coin to get a the subscription and I'm not a professional photographer so looking for a substitute.

    Thanks.

Download the 30 day demo and see if it has everything you need. For me, I need the suite for other things so I never dealt with it, but no harm in giving it a try before spending them dough.

GIMP is also a pretty good, light weight (and free) photo editor that can do most of the basic stuff like layers, masks, and curve adjustments. It'd be worth downloading and giving it a whirl.

If you are running a very old OS you can download photoshop CS2 for free.

There are lots of free stitching options. Check out microsoft ICE (Image Composite Editor). It is free, is easy to use and does a very good job.

CS2 runs just fine on my win 7 laptop.

And I have elements on my desktop. It does the handful of things lightroom doesn't that you need.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

I didn't think it ran on new OS's. Thanks for the update.

You can also go for the LR/PS combo for $10/month from Adobe. That's what I have, and it's nice to not have to worry about upgrading all of the time, versioning, etc.
