Wa cascades bc skiing this spring

Since the sierras don't have snow, I am thinking of heading up north for a month, mid may to mid june to bc ski.
I would like to be close to cities, so I can leave my small kids in daycare/sitters, so i can ski with my wife.

I was thinking the east side of the cascades, but I really dont know much about the area.

    Any recommendations?

Is mid may thru mid june a good time this year?

    Looking for steep descents.

    Thanks a lot!

If things don't improve, I would dial your trip in earlier. Might not be anything left to ski in June other than Rainier.

If you want late spring conditions in WA then come up now.
Normally May would be a good time but were just going to have to see what this year does. I'm still hoping for a lot of snow in feb mar april. But if that doesn't happen I would agree to come earlier or there will be nothing left.

Most years there's a ton of great touring mid-May to mid-June in the WA Cascades. Not looking good this year. No evidence that the jet stream hairpin will budge. Check in with us later.

I'd wait and watch. If we get big dumps in Feb and March as we have in recent years then spring and summer skiing will be good.

In normal years April and May can be good but are often transitional months. June can be good if the weather is good, which it usually is not. July is often primo when there has been a robust snowpack and a wet spring.

In May if we have the snow, I'd focus on Washington Pass. The highway should be open by then, weather is better since its east, and has endless amazing terrain.

Winthrop is, and it's still a pretty quick drive to Washington Pass.

Every year I ski at the pass through June, and only stop because I don't feel like walking over 10 feet of gravel/dirt to get to the snow.

    Prolly not this year, though.
