    How often do you tune

So the whole detune thread got me wondering how often do you tune your skis? Assuming no mid season disasters, like rocks etc I pay to tune them twice a season.I used to do all that myself but with job, kids etc I just can't find the time. The only thing I still do is debur and heavy wax after the end of my season.

    -Wax before every ski day
-Ptex gouges and file/stone edges every 3 or 4 days
    -Core shot fixes immediately

My race skis get tuned every other ski day, or at most every third ski day, all season long. My fat boards will usually get a good waxing and minor edge work every 5-8 ski days depending on the conditions I've been skiing them in and what I expect the conditions to be like in the days ahead. This usually means tuning my race boards 12-15 times a season and my fats maybe 3-6 times. I'll throw on a nice thick coat of wax for summer storage too, usually using Swix Pink wax, soft but not too soft.

At most my skis get shop tuned once a season, and its usually because there is base or edge damage that would end up costing me more in equipment wear and tear to fix than it would to have a shop deal with it. Usually I'll have my ski bases stoneground every other season or so, and after that I wax at least 4-6 times in a row to re-saturate my bases and get the skis fast again.

In terms of edges, I'll only file my fats maybe twice a year, but my race boards get it every other tune with diamond stones used in between to keep them razor-sharp. Prolly way too much info, but you asked.

Personally, I never tune. Maybe a slice with a razor blade if some crap is sticking out. Maybe a wax here and there.

Every so often. I tune about as often as I change underpants.

Wax and touch-up edges with diamond stone every day. Major damage is repaired immediately as it occurs, minor dings allowed to build up and then fixed all at once. Stone grind only when I have damage I can't repair properly myself.

Four or five coats of wax when skis are new. Keep stock tune alive as long as possable, then 1 deg bas, 2 deg side from there on.

I wax regularly and debur as needed. I shop tune my resort skis once a year and touch up the edges my self on an as needed basis. My BC skis rarley get more than damage fixes as their edges are almost never needed. This also leaves more base and edge material to fend off serious damage.

Edges get tuned when i can't grip anymore, bases get some attention when they are embarsingly (sp?) slow...when the bases or edges get looked at the skis get waxed....Shop techs have been known to cry at the sight of my skis

Every 5 days of use or so. Don't need sharp edges here though. Usually just a quick touch up with diamond stone and a wax job.

wax every day to every other day on the slopes. Tune when I'm doing trail slides down every trail or after a super-rocky day. P-Tex fills as necessary.

Annual to biannual (meaning I actually did tune them in Nov 03)....100 days later.....

Bad for me on groomers, but good for the slarve turns on everything else. Just depends on where you ski and your style.

I tune every other time I go out. Its a quick job, but I hotwax & deburr quickly as much as I can. Not tuning reg is like playing a guitar out of tune.
