7am snow phone reports 20'' new up to @ Alpine. Voice Mail changed to:

"Thanks for calling Rob w/ Blank Software Co, I will be in meetings most of today, but will check voice mail...yadda yadda"

Coffee drank, bagel munched, on the road by 7:30AM. Roll into Alpine lot @ 8:15AM, front row parking.

Alpine this morning was $ $ $ $ $.......third chair up this AM, session'ed D6 -> wolverine bowl - > waterfall twice w/no tracks crossed and face shots had....then gunned it over to Scott where that was just starting to spin, and lapped that twice for some tasty chute goodness, then back to Summit where patrol was dropping the rope on Beaver. Spent next 5 runs moving progressively further out, last run was a road shot down to AM Access Rd...pure bliss.

Much goodness had in 3.5 hours this morning, now back to schlep'ing software for The Man. Hope you guys all had a good Monday, I know I sure as hell did.

As usual Rose had the Slide side and The Chutes running most of the day on Sunday. Finally shut 'em down around 3:PM. Chutes had thigh deep pow, face shots all day . There were some crowds early but the wind scared off most people by early afternoon. Nothing like a 40-50 MPH wind to smooth things out.

This morning an 8:30 opening on the Zephyr Quad had me shredding the trees on a wind buffed and freshly blanketed Slide Mountain until the 9:AM dropping of the Yellowjacket gate where the snow was virgin and blowing over my face all morning. Back at work now but tomorrow will be a storm day and while most resorts are forced to close their good lifts, Mt Rose will spinning 'em.

Skiing in Nevada is mighty fine!!!

Wow. Wow. What a day out there. Despite Squaw's best efforts to spin lifts but make you wait at the bottom of them with 150 of your closest friends, it was E-P-I-C. Definately a best day of the year candidate. Not super deep fact-shot snow, but super thick yet soft and carvable quintessential Squaw/Tahoe creamy bliss. A few really scary factures, though, so I for one was glad patrol took their time controlling certain parts of the mountain. Today really was the kind of snow that spatulas were designed for. You could literally go as fast as you can down any aspect, jump off of whatever you felt like, and the snow was just here to support whatever you wanted to do. Unreal. And the sun came out, the wind died off, pure bliss. Little by little, chairs opened up, giving the patient and lucky more untracked terrain.

And there's another 2-3' on the way tonight and all day tomorrow. Bring it!!!

    Thumbs up

I would have been so excited I'd have frightened a few dogs and kicked a few strangers in the nuts.

Bad Roo has lowered his expectations from that pinnacle of poodle tossing?

    A sad day indeed.

    What he said.
    Thats right...I FUCKING SKIED TODAY!
Had to take it real mellow although I did hit D chutes to waterfall first run also but went over to scott and eventually lakeview to finish the day on super mellow pow. Am seriously limited with what I can ski on a leg - an ACL but it was good to get out again.

'04 Sanouk (ltd edition), '04 Sanouk (ltd edition), '05 Sanouk, Tap's 176 Gun (dont know the model, sorry), Spatula, New Line Prophet (something like 145 mm), Atomic Powder Cruise.

The 130 mm Sanouk is skinniest ski.....you know it is a Tahoe powder day.

Saw you coming off one of your early summit laps.

Only got 2 hours in this morning, but did get great run on Gentian's when it opened.

Backing working in Berkeley for a couple days before heading up on Thursday for the weekend.

OH, shit, the Wood went off today. Exactlouie the schnowizzle Lan Meyer described. Got up a little late for the front side opening, so I lapped High Whisky until the rope to 4 dropped and bagged third chair with a chick I knew from Argentina who just happened to pull up next to me in line and........she ripped. Out the T to Maggot Chute, not a track. Air in and catch the opening in the trees, untracked. Then hit the tree hump air into the bottom chute for the straightline out. It was machin snow and some of the most landing-absorbent stuff I've been on in a long time. Even as it got tracks, it was sooooo blazable. Sooo many hucks out the bottom of the Saddle were so sweet today. Caught up with Spats for a run. Damn. Miracle March.

It was like my 13th or 14th day of the season and the steam valve had to be relieved. It was like salvation.

Finally got a minute for a few picts....no action (sorry no time for that on a powder day).

The Sunday Squaw, Huck and Tap TR.

    Nice vis on KT

Tap enjoying the 70 mph winds above chute 75.

Huck at 4:15 PM....the last people on KT.

Stuck at the Chamy (due to 89 being a parking lot heading towards truckee)....the beer and pizza was fun a for few hours...then it was just tiring.

Heading out around 7.......still took 2 hours to Truckee.

    oh fucking yeah!

12th chair KT yesterday, untracked Nose to Fingers ridiculousness - so fast, so smooth, not a track in Icefall (F1) - oh god!

    Fingers huckage ensued

Headwall was so soft and steep, like having the roller coaster drop away from you for 6 football fields

over to Granite, hucked Upper Diving Board/Glory Rock for some air time,,,nothing like the style I saw Huckasaurass throwing off of it..whew, he flat out rips (nice to meet you, Hucka!)

by 12:30 it was skiied out and a little heavy, time to head back to Bend (7hours)

Huckwheat is Da MANG for hosting me - thx bro!

pics of a Squaw madness coming shortly
