    outlook exp question?

when I try to send email I can just send it to others that use .telusplanet.net
I can recieve all email from other
this happens if I reply or if I create the email.
When I go to the web mail on the telus site that works just fine to send.
I've just changed over to shaw high speed from dial up, and upgraded to windows XP from 98
This is the error message that I get when I send to anyone but telusplanet people

"The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'Shawn.Swinn@calgary.ca'. Subject 'Re: eBay Item Won! Salomon brakes for fat wide skis, 110mm, new and NR (Item #7141247074)', Account: 'Dave', Server: 'smtp.telusplanet.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 relaying mail to calgary.ca is not allowed', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79"

Any ideas on why and how to fix it?

    thanks guys

    1. Dump Outlook Express. It's the most virus-prone piece of crap ever.
    2. telusplanet.net's tech support can answer your question.

    Hey mnt,

Telus doesn't allow outside access to their SMTP (outgoing) mail server anymore from other ISPs. I have Shaw but still have an old telus account, I can retrieve mail from Telus' server but not send any out. You have to be on a Telus ADSL/dialup connection to send through SMTP, otherwise you'll have to use webmail. Pretty sure this is the problem you are having.

just switch to a yahoo or gmail account, so you can switch providers anytime you want without annoying your friends that your email changed yet again.

I really like gmail since it includes free pop smtp access. That way you can either use virus prone outlook or other programs, web access at a buddys computer, or even cell phone blackberry retrieval.
