headed out for the last hour of the day.

Still snowing. Will report back later.

If they get chair 9/the Ridge open tomorrow, it could be epic.

What is your best guess for how much loveland picked up during the day today? Still snowing when you left or clearing up like the NWS says? I'm assuming that after a monday at loveland, there is still ample goods to be gotten...basically tell me if i should burn a sick day.

    Thanks

well, it was on and off through the day, heavy at times, sun almost peaking through at others. Maybe 4" on top of the 11" overnight. But I will say that the 11" overnight felt like a lot more, there were drifts and blown in pow everywhere. right at the end of the day (3pm), sucker holes started appearing, and visibility improved a lot, but then another little squall came in and it started snowing again as I was leaving.

Still lots of soft, but not too much untracked around. It was pretty busy for a mid-week at Loveland, actually. 1 got hit pretty hard, 4 pretty hard, 8 not as much at all because it was so damn windy up top.

9 never opened. And therein lies the key. The high winds will smooth out a lot, so it'll be decent either way, but tomorrow is supposed to be bluebird, so if 9 opens and it calms a little, the Ridge is going to be incredible. Might be a little wind affected where it's open, but in the lee areas it'll be balls deep I'll bet.

Without 9, however, I'm less sure it's worth a sick day. A sick morning maybe. ..

It was great skiing with you maggots last Friday. It was the first time I've ever skied with maggots even though I've been on here for over a year. I had a great time and after seeing Crinkle rip it up and the Bro's and the Bro's leading me to maggots, I can't wait to try a pair. I rode Jane again today and it was great. There was at least 8" everywhere with deeper spots in the trees etc. The Chutes were in better shape today than on Friday. They weren't so scrapey with all the snow we've had lately. Jeff's chute even had soime fresh on it after lunch on the harder, less skied lines. Hole in the wall was good early this morning too.

Yoss or Brett did they end up opening the Lake Chutes at all on Saturday? This is mostly a question to ease my regretful conscience, I was hoping they would open up before I had to bug out for home (kids, never ever go to school at Nebraska) but they were still reading closed at the top of chair-6. If they opened later that afternoon I'm gonna be pissed, though I would like to hear how they were. zoot chute looked sweet.

Judging from the line of millions hiking up the ridge, Lake Chutes was open....In fact I think I remember Yoss saying he hiked that shit before we got our lazy asses out of bed to meet him. Some days you just find lots of your friends on the mountain and have a blast....that was one of them...good times, good times....

prankychimp: what Blurry 11s said. Way Out/Lake Chutes did open, not long after 8/Imperial, which I snagged about 10th or so. Yoink! Timing is everything, I guess. However, you can feel a bit better about not hitting it - it turned out to be pretty dang windpacked and heavy, and not in a smooth, buffed out fun sort of way. Had to ride in the backseat all the way down. Still, it didn't suck getting untracked.

Funny, actually. Got to the top, helmet off cause it was warm, and rolled up next this guy in yellow that I'd seen a couple times earlier in line. He looks over at me and grins, and says, "you look suspiciously like a Cletus." Sure enough. Should I be worried that I'm that recognizable from being on the internet? Probably. But good to meet you Hugh Jass!

Brett, marshall, SheRa, good to see you all too, sorry we mostly missed each other. Y'all were lazy, and I was weak, so by the time you got there, I was stick-a-fork-in-me done.

Next time. Maybe I can get out on Friday with Uncle Crunkle there and we'll see ya at Vail...

"Quote: This End Up, It was awesome meeting maggots on the slopes. Thursday was the Midwest crew at flail with Gonzo and INDY GS."

Yeah it was cool meeting up with you guys too, had a blast hitting those rollers with you guys. I ended up getting stuck in a traffic jam in denvoid, missing my plane by 20 minutes. However, Frontier honored my ATA ticket at Face value, no upcharge from them, except the $20 admin fee I paid to ATA! Got back to Chicago at midnight and rolled home by 3:45 am, then up to Michigan for some racing.

Yoss, sorry I didn't call back on Wednesday, your number didn't stay with my phone. I prolly would have had a better time at Loveland than at abasin, 'twas very windy up top.

Anyway always cool meeting maggots and skiing a bit too.
