Don't know about proofs, but I used Blurb for my wedding books and was happy. Good UI on the software and reasonable price. I based my choice on recommendations here, but I'm too lazy to search for you.
2nd on Blurb. Loved that you could do custom layouts and it wasn't "scrapbooky". Photos turn out great and I was impressed with the premium paper. Will def. be using them again!

Being stoked is a state of mind. How do you achieve it?
3rd on Blurb -- awesome quality. Plus it's integrated with Lightroom, so you can design directly in LR (it shows you a running total price for the book you're working on) and upload/order from there -- although you cannot customize it as much using LR as you can through Blurb's own offline/desktop design app, I find it way easier to work in LR.
4th on blurb, the gf and i did this quick and dirty one a couple of years ago for our families. A bit pricey but i'd def use them again.

I also was pleased with Blub. Honestly the biggest reason I went with them was because of the LR plugin; just made it easy.
But if you want super high end, my wedding photog uses Graphi.

The quality is absolutely amazing. But then again they should be as I think they are around $400 for a 30 page book...
used blurb with premium paper and paperback a couple of times. very pleased with the results.
