Hope you are right, I have a new intern starting on Wednesday with us scheduled to walk around outside quite a bit at the Y/C.

What I really would like is for all the folks that moved here in the past 3 years to get a good dose of Montana weather.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

    That won’t matter.

This cold snap isn’t the impetus but we’re out of here as soon as we can swing it (too many moving pieces to just say fuck it and peace out).

Here is a pic of her circa 1917.

Cool pic, I know a few families from Conrad. I've been burning way too much wood for this early. Need to go take the chainsaw for a walk, gonna be a long winter.

Yeah cool pick KQ. That Rocky Mountain Front country is not for wimps even today, but back then it was much harder. I really like those Ivan Doig novels about that area around the turn of the century. Those people were hardcore.

I got friends from Conrad and Valier. According to them, the secret is rum and cokes.

Gram's family came from North Carolina to Conrad. According to Gram most of the families who lived there were Norwegians which seems about right for the weather. Must have seemed like home for them. My family not so much but being stubborn tar heels they weren't going to let it break them.

My grandfather ran the grain elevator on Conrad. Dad graduated from high school there. After Vietnam he took his new family (I was born during his tour) to Valier, where we were quarantined for several weeks due to malaria.

    Damn cold on this page.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Hopefully not, have a couple of cords that have been seasoned. But I'm in MT and have cut and burned plenty of standing dead lodgepole and Doug same year.

I know Seattle is pretty mild compared to most places, but I noticed today we haven't had a single day yet in December where the high temperature got up to the average high for that day. This week is going to be cold with high temps right around freezing through Thursday. Supposed to get a warmup starting Friday and Christmas Day is forecasted to be around 50. People are going to be outside in shorts.
