yup we told him not to come with us because he didn't have his shit but he said he'd go alone if he didn't. I'd rather have a shot in hell at finding my buddy then having him die alone in the mountains. Of course what you don't see in that picture is the 10 inches of snow over tundra that is the entire snowpack right there (with no death trap below).

    Sick picture thoug isn't it?

"If there's enough snow to ski, there's enough snow to slide."

Anything that's worth skiing has avalanche potential under certain conditions. Study it, experience it, and having skiing it, but be aware of that. That's all I have to say.

AKPM, I like the new Avatar.
The old one made you look like a high schooler.
this one is a pensive, wiser, older young man, staring into the vast Alaskan wilderness, pondering the next mountain to conquer.
Keep up the stoke, and keep learning.

You are getting a LOT of skiing in this season. Great pictures.
You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

Actully thats not my backyard, its a 20 minute drive and then an hour hike. That peack you see in the background that kinda curves is vista, one of my goals for the spring, 5 hours up 15 minutes down, one scary clip in.

This is the other side of it, shot from my backyard

If anybody wants to come play with me they are more then welcome too.

20 min drive pretty much qualifies as backyard....you are luckier there than most.

I concur with ScottG.....the new avatar is solid. It is like AK hit 4000 posts and suddenly, "became a man". Little AK is all grown up.

All I know is that If that were my back yard, I would be bad ass.
