Colburn Triple opened up, but with most gates closed. People predictably pushed terrain via traversing upstream, and a skier triggered slide occurred in the main bowl. Gates got gated.

Front side laps commenced with surprisingly good skiing despite the low coverage.

Skied till 2:50pm when tired legs dictated it was time.

Set up to ski Silver. Gunna check the cams. I’m having my doubts for obvious reasons.

Word on the street is rain to the top. With the cold temps forecast for tonight the surface conditions could be err, umm, crispy.

Yeah, any day on snow is better than work but if we don’t get minimum 3” that could be spicy.

Can confirm rain started around 8 AM and did not let up until ~2. Going to be very spicy today.

    Update:
Starting to snow in Kellogg at 5:30

Looks like there is a short film over the history of Mt Spokane on Unofficial Networks. I can’t get to their video from the site however, is it anywhere else?

I'm pretty sure Silver and Schweitzer are likely similar. My view is that we need a foot to fully heal the scab that's underlying whatever new we get. Tilled groomers are going to be the norm for awhile with little snow in the forecast. Sunday at Schweitzer was somewhat heinous and I'm guessing yesterday was a rinse and repeat kind of day.

Could be this one. This was produced by friends of mine that I used to ski for when we were making feature shows for various cable networks. This is a good history of the area.

ETA: Yes, I just checked Unofficial Networks site. Same video. I'm not sure why you can't just use their embedded link, though.

Cool, thanks man. I started there in winter 79/80. spent every weekend there as my pops taught skiing there for over 30 years. Great memories and a great springboard to future adventures

Oh yeah? Wow, that's pretty cool. Good chance I know your dad. I started skiing there in 67/68 (yes, I'm old...) and coached moguls a couple years and taught one winter, 80/81 before deciding that I hated ski instructing. I left there in 90/91 after 23 years and have been based at Schweitzer since.

Was up at Schweitzer yesterday. Was super windy towards the end of the day up top. Went in to piss at the sky house, came back out and my brothers snowboard had blow away. Wind was blowing off the edge towards where the snow ghost used to be. Keep an eye out for it if ya could. Black and navy board, black bindings, with a directional shape to it. I'll get back to you on the brand.

Took about 7 runs at Silver this morning. Couple inches on top of boiler plate. Found a couple wind loaded spots that skied well, but lots of ice chunks lurking everywhere meant cautious skiing.

    Silver was terrible [emoji83]

It was deep if you knew where to look, goats crushed chicken heads and made maching down 4 stupid fun. Yuge speed checks on the right side where it was wind loaded!! 🤤🤤 white room baby!

She was real tasty for the most part. That is until she wasn’t.. wind scoured sections were present but I had a huge smile every run!!

Ride on lifts all morning, let’s have more of these days please...

    Off to work now!
