Now, can anyone explain to me why the banks are closed today?

They are not Federal or State and as far as I can see the ladies who work at the Bank are not Veterans.
Banks rely heavily on the federal reserve to process transactions so most are closed on govt holidays.

That looks like the crew that kept the commies on the east side of the Fulda Gap and made a lot of German fathers angry on the west side.

Thank you for your service SFB and all TGR veterans!

That’s SFB in the Fulda Gap.

At the height of the Cold War the US kept 120 American soldiers in that strategic location facing 170,000 Soviet tanks. If the balloon had gone up, SFB and those two buddies would have been annihilated in 20 seconds. They were the tripwire that would trigger America’s nuclear response.

Talk about being the sharp end of the spear. SFB is the real deal.

Going to have to disagree here XXX. We have many veterans that served in places other than WW1 and 2 that do 't get enough remembrance on this day or any other. These men and women have served in Korea, Cyprus, the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda and other UN missions as well as Afghanistan and various NATO deployments. I know a few guys who were in Bosnia and what they saw was not good for their psyche and that's just one location. They put themselves between to groups who want and are actively trying to kill each other. That for me is worth thinking about and not in support of the military industrial complex.

I had the honor to have shared a dinner table with Talisman’s kid brother. Ate an enormous amount of bbq brisket, and then played horseshoes. Paratrooper with the 82nd, cool guy. Sorry that he passed so young.

Missed yesterday while recovering from Covid vax

Another shoutout to My great uncle Herb Knowles, who came back from N Africa/Europe, and to Dan Somers who came back from four tours in Iraq/Afghanistan. Both were unable to live with the experience

And mad compassion for all those still trying to cope with being put in an insane situation. Our country owes you better.

Veterans Day honors all who have served our nation in uniform. Wartime, peacetime, does not matter. All veterans are honored today.

World War One ended at 11am on November 11th. “The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.”

Thanks for bumping this thread Harry. For our Canadian cousins here is a picture of my uncle (middle) who was an RCAF aircrew on various types bombers out of the UK 1941-1945 with the RCAF 408 Squadron though he wasn't from Canada and other than training never lived there.

Thanks veterans. I appreciate your service.

And if you feel we sent you on a stupid or misguided mission, I appreciate it that much more. And offer my apologies for not electing better leadership. We're all human and make mistakes. Until we figure out lasting peace, you're very much needed. Thanks for giving your best.
