Colorraggots - help my friend plan a camping trip

    Thanks in advance:

    details:
He is arriving Saturday night with a suburban and a tow-behind camper with his brother. They do not ski, but want to fish, hike, hang in the hills, etc.

He was thinking Grand Lake, but that's too high. (maybe)

Any suggestions for a cool itinerary within 3 hours of Denver???

Also, how far is it from Denver to Moab?

    Thank you all again

Denver to Moab is about 6 hours.

If they are looking to park their camper near Summit County there is an RV park in Leadville.

There won't be much hiking this time of year unless they want to snow shoe.

I'm don't fish so can't give much advice there.

Pueblo has a huge resevoir at the state park there. There is some decent hiking, but it's not really in the mountains. It does have some cool rock formations though. It is about 90 minutes from here (Denver).

Karl - not sure how much info he's got on Colorado, but once your friend is heading to Moab, BobMc is the authority.

Bob's site - all the necessary camping info, numbers, links - and Bob's email.

Here's a good link for them:

The fishing is very good right now. Multiple 3-5 lb. trout and 50+ days are possible. Hitting on egg patterns and small nymphs.
