For some reason I feel the need to comment instead of spending lunch outside on a beautiful Colorado day. Pinner, you’re my friend and this ain’t gonna change that. That being said, I think that jokes about banging someone’s wife on the internet are uncalled for, regardless of whether you are baited or not. Perhaps that is what makes me different than others on the internet. If I wouldn’t say it to your face, I’m not going to post it here. I call it as I see it and you are just as guilty as anyone else with the personal attacks. I’ve met Blurred, your internet nemesis, and he seemed nice enough. The first thought that came to mind was, “Wow, why is this guy such a schizoid dick on the internet”. I’m sure he doesn’t care what I think and I’m sure you’d say the same about those that form an opinion about you on the internet. Point is people do form opinions based on stupid flame wars on this skiing message board. Where the internet ends and the real world begins is a tough place to define.
You take issue with people bringing the Friends of Berthoud Pass into the mix. I don’t share the view that your internet persona and your capacity as representative of FOBP are mutually exclusive. For example, if Splat became combative toward potential customers, PMGear’s image may suffer. The same can be said of your internet tirades and the objectives of the FOBP. The public persona of a group’s leaders, internet or otherwise, does effect the image an organization presents. Are you the only guilty party, absolutely not. I’d like to make a request that you try the moral high ground, the weather is nice up here. I know you feel that this is simply humor in good fun but not everyone, myself included, feels that way.
Maybe I bring a selfish view point. Am I concerned that in some way I’m guilty by association, absolutely. In a warm and fuzzy perfect world I’d be able to separate Pinner from Shan, a good friend for whom I have the utmost respect. Unfortunately I can’t. This dirty laundry could have been aired in private but the effect would not have been the same. My point – a public request that you bury, or at least temper, your internet alter ego.
Respectfully,
Foggy
