Collapsed the wind slab at the top, and upon close inspection discovered no slab in the gut.

It's the Wasatch Sheep Mentality.........you can ONLY approach Superior from the East Ridge, exposing yourself to the oft wind loaded patch below Little Sup (I got rolled there). You are expected to put a skinner out of Days over the 40 degree limestone rock slab with faceting below, cause that's tradition, etc.

Maybe when we want to ski Red Baldy now, we should only traverse in from the east from Red Top, or wait for the heli.

It is national forest land. You can do whatever you want, but expect to be dropped in on. In surfing its common etiquette to paddle out where people are not dropping in. A few years ago, i dropped into the knob started a point release wet slab at the very top and it came down and hit a guy skinning up from the bottom. I admit it was late in the day and i should have just come down Cardiff, but the far worse decision was skinning straight up an avalanche path.

When did it become so popular to ski aprons? I am so tired of people setting traverses and skin tracks under lines that go from summits. The cool whip ruins the bird, dont destroy aesthetic lines that go in the backcountry.

spring turns have been fun this weekend. There's something to be said for packing light, getting a weird looking tan and going for a walk.

friend enjoying the fruits, or sunpow as we decided it should be called until snow returns

I think the reason everyone thinks its a bad idea to skin up superior is because you never know who da fuck psychopath beater freeskier is gonna drop in off the summit and set a slide off burying everyone on the mountain.

And if I was on the summit that morning and some douches were taking half my fresh line there would have been a stabbing.

Skied Homicide on Mt Superior today. Southwester facing line is on the other side of Superior Ridge. Opposite Country Lane or Suicide Shaft. Get it Homicide - Suicide. other side of Sup is tracked out!!

Snow was toe to boot deep on a crust. Snow had softened up on the decent. Had to boogie since the sun started some rollerballs. Rog it was good Chamonix turn practice. Turn - check speed - turn - check speed. entire time thinking just ski solid - no falls.

Laid some of Brian's ashes on the line. Got done it time to rendezvous with Michele sunbathing at Alta and some friends at GMD.

instabilities noted...rollerballs - sun baked and good corn skiing.

Welcome back to the wasangles SFB eh....

    Peace

    CAT
