yeah, seriously, but it was pretty good, too bad the lady had a bumm knee, we only got about 5 or 6 laps in before she couldn't take it. By the way, mosh I think you were on the buss with us on the way out, if you had a black employee fleece on and spats.

WELL OF COURSE, thats why I am me and you aren't

I was there last week and just missed the goods!

I was told that VR have a plan to install another lift from the top of chair 6 to Imperial Bowl. Anyone know if that's been approved?

I think it's the same one.......

    http://www.krystal93.com/news.php

    "Breck ponders controversial new lift
Some skiers and snowboarders are upset over a new lift being planned at Breckenridge. If approved by the U-S Forest Service, the Peak Eight Summit Lift will provide access to 500 acres of bowls and chutes. Right now -- that terrain is only accessible by a lengthy hike. Skiers and snowboarders who make the hike do so for untouched powder and small crowds. The chief executive of Vail Resorts is promising new, semi-private powder stashes for local skiers if the lift is approved. Company C-E-O Adam Aron says trail design and signs could help preserve areas for skiers upset over the proposed lift. The lift would be the highest in North America at 12-thousand,830 feet. It would take people from near the top of Chair 6 to within 170 feet of the top of Peak 8, above the Imperial Bowl. In addition to requiring Forest Service approval, the proposed new lift has to get past the Breckenridge Town Council. Councilmember Jeffrey Bergeron has suggested that the new lift provides a precedent to build lifts all along the Tenmile Range from Breckenridge to Frisco."

Great news if you're not into hiking, bad news for the crowds!

I'm pretty sure it's a go. There are quite a few disheartened locals bemoaning the loss of the hike-to terrain. VRs response to these (IMHO justified) complaints was the typical corporate communications drivel. Providing access for the "typical guest" to enjoy "extreme terrain". Ugh.

edit: Looks like you beat me to your own question.

The lift is being installed this summer from the top of 6 chair to a spot about 150' vert. from the summit of Peak 8. I think it's great for the ski area as it will add some legitimate lift-serviced terrain, but I'm personally against it. I used to be able to hike that stuff all day and stay away from the crowds.....not anymore. The 45 minute hike(gaper pace) used to be a really good deterent. I think this lift is gonna turn Peak 8 into just another bump field. There are a lot of locals, like myself, that are strongly opposed to the idea.

And Breck DID NOT SUCK today!

Just skiiers left of zoot chute can be pretty gnarly depending on the line you take.

Yep, kinda stay on the spine and billygoat you're way down through the rocks. The elevator shaft is usually a good time too, skiers right of zoot. they claim the lake chutes are the steepest in-bounds terrain in Summit, not too sure about this, as I gotta think that portions of the East Wall at the Basin are steeper and considered inbounds terrain.

I'm just giving you guys grief.

I know Summit County, and Breck in particular, is totally gnar, rad extremo. Any secrets you want to share about in-bounds sickety sickness at Keystone?

Keystone is so core brah! Just go skiiers left of upper extremognar and theres a nasty 60 degree chute with a manditory 40 foot huck for an exit. If you cant find it, your just not looking hard enough

    VR says so....

    Lake Chutes - Extreme Terrain!

Even if it doesn't meet everyone's definition of extreme, it's still steep at ~50 degrees.

And long too, at about 40' of sustained vertical if I'm not mistaken.

I don't doubt that people enjoy skiing Breck. It's just utterly uninspiring to my mind. I think. In my opinion. My $.02 and all that.

And now I will leave this thread, so that the Summit County Extreme Scene may continue it's vapid acceleration unhindered.

    ????
I'm not sure but I think you're for real. You have obviously never skied the elevator shaft. I'm not a huge fan of Breck either, but come on up and I can show you some cool lines to be had.

This sounds like its getting to be a Utah vs. CO terrain pissing match.

Everyone is happy where they're at, so who the fuck cares?

Really, when did that happen? Where?

I don't, so why do you? Butt out.

cmsummit, I'd love to take you up on that offer, but the chances of me wasting a day at Breckenridge in the next, oh... say 30 years are pretty slim.
