    While solly didn't come up with the twin tip idea, they did make the first hugely successful ski (1080?)...

    Didn't volkl put metal and carbon in their skis way back in the 70's?

    ... just sayin'.

    Volkl was the first company to use carbon, in the mid 70's. It was the first company to use metal in a race ski. It was the first company to go with a non-vanilla graphic, the zebra pattern. It also popularized a few minor categories we take for granted now, with skis like the Explosiv, Gotama, and Snow Ranger, back when 70 mm was considered fat.
