    Vancouver BC riding?

Seeing as I'm going to BC in like 5 days and will be stuck in vancouver for two days of my "dream ski vacation" I might as well go biking, anyhow how could I go about doing some biking? I think it'd be cool to rent a road bike and go for a ride or something like that, anything is good if it involves going fast on 2 wheels... Help would be greatly appreciated. Note: I'm staying at the sylvia hotel and don't have acess to a car to go very far.

Go out the Lobby door, turn left. Turn left again and walk all the way down Denman street towards Stanley Park. There a bike shop on the corner of Georgia and Denman that rents bikes. I think I even saw a decent road bike in their fleet. Take said bike and do loops of the park.

The bus system in Vancouver is pretty good, and many busses have a bike rack, so it is possible to get some riding in without a car.

As Mike said, you can rent a bike from that place at Denman St. There's other places you can rent from (e.g. Cove Bikes - but they're in North Van).

One good option is to take a bus out to Simon Fraser University (SFU) and ride the trails around SFU. Bus services between downtown and SFU are frequent - see Translink for timetables.

SFU is quite a lot of fun but the really good stuff is at Mt Fromme and Mt Seymour. Both are in North Vancouver. You could get to Mt Seymour fairly easily by bus, but I'm not sure if those busses have bike racks. Someone on nsmb.com might be able give you the scoop on that - or call Translink.

Bad drivers? I'd say more like downright homocidal.

AKPM - If you can't get over to the North Shore or just want to go for a mellow ride nearby, consider heading over to the University Endowment Lands over at Point Grey (near UBC). There's an extensive trail network through the forest there. Nothing technical, but it can be a fun, fast ride - you can easily rack up 10 miles of riding in that area alone, with no traffic to worry about except the occasional trail runner or hiker.

If the skiing at Whistler sucks too much, you might want to consider renting a bike and hitting some of the trails around Whistler, such as A River Runs Through It, Train Wreck, and the like.
