Not sure what was "mountaineering" but something like the Silvretta route (or what's marketed as such) was relatively free of serious crevasse travel; couple peaks that you could avoid if choosing. Large well provisioned huts with draft beer.
Yes, Ive read that Silveretta is a good biggenners tour, guess that means it isn´t to much of the rope stuff involved.
Actually, glacier travel in a party of two is more about being on a well used tour than an easy one. The possibility of getting someone up is limited, unless the possibilities for building ancors when at the same time holding the fallen person is very good.
