Oh, I'm going to get sprayed for this one.
I have belonged to the same gym for years. I'm one of their customers that they could care less about, because I use the place a lot, and never fall for extras, like a trainer or something. I'm in and out, along with many others at the same time, same place. So, this branch of the "athletic club" company (NYSC) has a nice lap pool that maybe four years ago became swim camp for kids. They figured out how to turn that pool into a cash cow by having swim lessons there for the lower Fairfield mommys and their little spoiled urchins. Hey, whatever, sometimes they get under your feet when they dash back and forth from pool to front door, but, some are cute, so, big whoop, once you get used to woking out in a near nursery at times. Now, every now and then there has been a very young child in the men's locker room with a parent, but, still, I find that a tad awkward, you know, because of the fact that one takes all of their clothes off in a locker room. But, i think somebody said something, because I have seen cryptic signs warning parents of small children to be careful. They have their own little locker room thing by the pool, so, they really shouldn't be in the men's room, anyway. Well, today, that other locker room was being worked on, it seems, because, when I entered the locker room, I look down, and a little girl was sitting right in the middle of the room having her hair dried by her father. He seemed to be Japanese, as so was she. My jaw drops, I do a 180, and start almost shouting at the manager in his office. I didn't use profanity, but, I probably looked like a madman, because I was really fucking pissed that they allowed a little maybe 4 year old girl use a room that older men get naked in. Think of the fucking raw meat a situation like that is to either a prosecutor or lawyer or both. If I or any other grown man takes his clothes off with that girl in the room, aren't we committing a very serious crime? I mean, one wrong move, one crazy parent accusing you of something, and you are in jail for the worst crime in the world. The lowest of the low.
Am I being a drama queen here? I feel like writing the president of the company on this one. The manager, who, really is just a successful salesman who got promoted to salary, actually tried to justify it by telling me that the other locker room was closed, and, I look at him in the eyes, and say, dude, IT"S THE MEN"S LOCKER ROOM and the little girl was maybe 4. Jezuz Christ. Sometimes I feel like I was born on a different planet.
