    Siatica---unbearable pain.

This sucks. It's 4:30am and I can't even lay down because my pinched nerve (aka siatica) is acting up. Any suggestions to releive pain? Done the muscle relaxor, antiinflamatory, excersize, stretch, pillow under leg thing already.

Sorry....had to rant because I see a terrible day coming tommorow due to lack of sleep.

    advil and excercise

Been there- I always felt worse when I was least active. Figure out what you can do that doesn't aggravate it and do it a lot. If anyone suggests bedrest do not listen.

How long has it been a problem?
Monty Python's version of the cougar phenomenon:

2 years ago I was diagnosed with a "pinched nerve", which went away. Well, now it's back. I've had some imaging done and am waiting on the results...but this go around has been here for almost a week with not much improvement. I'm on muscle relaxors and prescription ant-inflamatory...but nothing for pain.

Sorry to hear you are suffering, having experienced sciatica myself I can relate. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation worked for me when pretty much everything else was useless ... the muscle relaxors, the anti inflams, the pain killers, physio, chiro etc ... this little machine has two plastic patches that you place on your skin and it then gives you a tiny little electric shock every few seconds, kinda feels a bit like "pins and needles". My pain disappeared! Best bit was you can wear the thing pretty much all day everyday with no side effects that the medications give you. Basically the electric impulses interfere with the pain signals and 'short circuit' the pain msgs getting back to the brain. (Sorry I work in pain management - hope I'm not being too technical)

I originally borrowed a unit from a physio ... I ended up buying my own and I think it cost me about 100 Australian $ several years ago now. Not sure where you would find one in the US but a google search is always a good place to start ... or ur local physio may be able to lend u a unit.

    Hope this helps

    Sue

PS: borrowing is good to start as u may find you only need to use it for several days to 'break' the pain/spasm cycle and then your pain may be gone for good. I can't remember the last time I used mine (which is definitely a good thing!)
