Another biweekly binge in the Stuart range. Objective A shut us down but we still found some good skiing.

I haven't been up that way this spring, is the road still closed at 8 Mile campground?

As of this weekend yes, though I'd call the ranger station. I talked to them last week and they are close to opening it. Snow free till 8 mile TH.

^^^Unless you're touring, your options are limited.

sklar's been known to earn his turns. Would recommend getting above 4k as today's temps have climbed substantially. South Cascades got more than anyone else, not sure if that's a good or bad thing...

was hoping to get back to the tatoosh this weekend for attempt #2 at the other weekend's failed mission, but stability might not agree with that.
crystal is closed, so maybe touring around there, but i don't really know the area

jah, opting for the bike tomorrow, not to keen to walk around in windy rain/snow mix for questionable turns

irregardless I will continue to display my parking permit as a small and meaningless protest.

Not too shabby today at Xtal. Low crowds. Mellow vibes, and a bit of dust on top of 12" of firm crust.

Awesome. I've stared down that face and couldn't imagine skiing down it, absurdly steep and exposed.

I was up today and am trying to decide the same thing. I'm leaning towards no.

It was getting torn up and starting to get warm/ corny. Temps will drop tonight and aren't supposed to get warm tomorrow

Loop around Mt Angeles in the Olympics -

Climbed from the Switchback TH, circling around the west shoulder to the summit.

Skied down along our ascent route.

Climbed all the way back to the summit after debating the weather, then dropped north.

Ascended eastward to a saddle, dropped into the large NE bowl.

Climbed southward to Victor pass, skied to the car.

Interesting mix of conditions. Cold dry pow atop edgeable crust in the shade, shmoo in the sun after mid-morning. South facing coverage starting to thin out, but still lots of snow up there.

just heard a completely non-informative blurb on the news about a slide - perhaps inbounds? - at Alpental today that injured someone. Anyone know anything? Everyone out there OK?
