Ottime
Pigs come in many sizes. A head count would help me to know how large a hog to order.
I removed myself as I have a date with some striped bass.
Enjoy the fest!

I HIT UP Slaag LAST WEEK ABOUT IT AND HE SAYS HE IS OUT FOR THE FEST......BUT HERE IN SPIRIT
VTF..I WILL MOST CERTAINLY BE BRING MY TENT WONT FORGET THIS TIME......
IN for the pig and if Peruivan needs any assistance I would be more than happy....
always forward but never straight
Sounds like around 30 folks. I'll need to order a pig of about 50lbs to ensure plenty for hungry volunteers and maybe a little for breakfast the next morning. Bring some ziplock bags to bring left overs home. It will be about $6-7/person with 30 paid.
As far as help, I'm only able to drop the roasted pig off on Saturday afternoon as I've got another party to cater. I will need a stable table that can take heat (no plastic) to put it on. Even a few barrels or stacked cinder blocks will work. If someone can get some aluminum trays, that would help too. We generally cook our pigs to a temperature that allows easy pulling. That means little or no knife work (safety first!). I'll just split the skin and then everyone can pull their own pork or a few pullers can put it into aluminum trays for serving. I'll see if we can leave some extra sauce for serving as my partner's wife makes an excellent variant with smoked maple syrup in it.
Don't forget pliers for the eyeballs. They taste like bacon, but slide down easier.
Ok, I can make some sauce too. Are we sure this is enough pig? Also, did we really lose over half of the attendees from last year? Big Daddy, wasn't last year 100+? I know there will be lots of other food so no one should go hungry but...
Also, do we want to get a keg or rely on BYOB? I have a tap that I can bring, and if people think the festivities would be improved by having a keg or 1/2 keg, I can see what type of delicious IPA I can find on short notice.
Not sure if I am going to bring bread, sauce, or something else. What do we need?
What is the plan for breakfast?
We should start a list of needs:
- Table(s) for food
- Foil pans for pig
- Non-meat food items
- Shelter (KRP has a large tarp, no poles)
- Bacon pans
- Charcoal
- Coffee
- Method to make coffee
- Plates
- Bowls
- Cups
So what is the exact date? Sorry I not find it.
watch out for snakes
I'm planning to bring a jockey box (although it may be a 7-tap instead of 4, depending on a few things). I'll also have the means to hook up 2 sankey taps (including CO2), and 2 or 3 corny kegs (ball lock or pin lock), if needed. I'll even bring a keg or two of homebrew if anyone's interested.
Then again, if nobody wants the jockey box, I can leave it at home.
October 12th.
I am in Baltimore all week and will be doing family time that weekend. I'm out...prolly college tour bound...maybe in VT![]()
I will most certainly dig on some pig. Mmmm.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Sorry, haven't check this thread in a few days. I'm definitely in and definitely want some roasted pig. I can PayPal the dough to whoever needs it or bring some turtle fur.
Stoked. I can bring a robust stainless steel topped table...Its about 35" x 27" (switchback & water jug for scale) and if appropriate a couple of jugs of water........Table has been used to cut up little piggies before and is easy to decon/sterilze. Let me know if you want me to bring it though 'cause I won't bring it unless its needed....![]()
