Snowbird access gates closed for the year???

I've heard from multiple sources that all of Snowbird's access gates have been closed for the year due to someone skiing off a cliff in a closed area. Anyone else hear this? I was told by an old-timer today to forget about Pipeline tommorow (or any other day this year). Sucks if this is true.

    WOULD IT!?!"

Yeah...overheard something about a boarder dropping an 80 footer somewhere around Keyhole. Trollers saw him and pulled his pass, but I guess he's a pro not from here and doesn't really care. I haven't seen any bathtubs around there nor heard anything about the closing of access gates though. It would be a damn shame.

I was randomly hiking up Baldy this morning from the Bird, killing some time till the warm up, when I came across the open gate. I read the gate, understood the closure map (anything in red=no go), heeded the warnings about how it only takes 1 person being stupid to ruin it for everyone (gates would be closed if people were riding that area), and then hit up the top of Baldy twice. Probably would of done it more but I was doing around the worlds off the chairs.

Baldy shoulder skied like a (slightly) carvable mirror. I wouldn't want to go down on that stuff as it would of been a long ride off those rocks into ballroom.

We were out the gates above Gad 2 yesterday, and eveything was good. The immediate bc area was skied hard, but worth touring around.

It would suck if they closed those gates because someone was being selfish on another part of the mtn, but more likely the conditions are about to turn to coral reef Sunday.

Get after it tomorrow if they're open.

    that would be a bummer...

but didn't APD post something about a dude he know hitting some closed line that hasn't been skiied in 10 years or something? does it not happen fairly often?

ColdSmoke and I skied the Bird today. Fine, fine day. You'll all be happy to know that all touring gates were open.

And going and going and going and going.

The other day I heard a different version of a rumor that was spread last season at the beginning of the season.
