Could be tech talk as I'm specifically interested if anyone is using trackers? I recently got the fitbit flex and love this freaking thing. Anyone using one or a similar like the jawbone up?

Whew! For a minute there I thought you'd gone all existential on us.

The problems we face will not be solved by the minds that created them.
I haven't tried the new generation of fitbit type devices, but I used the Suunto T4 Coach watch and heart rate monitor a few years ago. It undoubtedly put me in the best shape of my life after a few months. Seriously, I got 4th place in a 10K, and I've never been a good distance runner. Not only did it monitor my workouts, but it planned future workouts based on my performance. After a while though, when I made it up to one of the higher levels, it wanted me to work out at a high heart rate for like 16 hours a week which I just didn't have the time for.
The sleep monitor for the fitbit looks cool, but I generally don't like shit on my wrists when I sleep. I suppose you get used to it though.
I'm keen on using something but don't like the idea of a bulky, ugly device. The Up looks cool but plugging in to your phone to download data - no, not going to work for me. So far the Misfit Shine looks the best for me, though that's on the assumption the software will become more sophisticated. Just waiting for UK distribution.

FWIW I'm not into detailed training recommendations, more bigger picture stuff like fulfilling an exercise target/sleep tracking/estimated daily calorie burn.
i have the UP but havent tapped its potential yet, need to start logging workouts (or working out for that matter), dietary info, alcohol use. The sleep tracking is strange, but I sleep like shit so i may be the problem.
It was a gift that I've had for 2 weeks. A heart rate monitor or a way to use it in real time would be cool.
