I'll have a pair of SideStashes too. Racing in SLC in two weeks and haven't gotten much time on the race skis yet. So only part of the weekend will be embarrassing and painful.

Alpine skied nicely today in the late afternoon. Thin layer of new cream cheese in the palisades and elsewhere up high was skiing well. These next couple of days should be good.

Which resort has the best midweek specials and/or best snow, other than D Peak?

+1... I think. And send hutchski and nachoski my number. Might be working on a plan at one of the usual easy access spots. Unless is a pow access kind of day. I don't think nachoski got an epic this year.

It is not that hard to swap skis at Alpine. Get there by 8:15 and you will park close enough.

(Then go to Treats for breakfast)

Does anyone know if overnight RV camping is allowed in either of the Mt. Rose parking lots? If not, is there any place nearby to winter dry camp? Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it. Thanks.

Full on millennium falcon effect going over Echo at 11PM, turned to snow at twin bridges, most difficult driving with low visibility in over 3 years for me, had a hard time finding the edges of the road.

They've always taken good care of me.

My pops took me there after I snapped a ski at Squaw when I was 10,11 ish. He was trying to be pissed and trying to be proud at the same time. I was flinging myself when I broke my ski. I got newer better skis and a "stern" (laughing) talking to about not destroying skis while acting like a jackass.

Back then we shopped at Porter's, Helm, Oshman's, and Mel Cotton's.

Recently, we've scored great deals on skis for young Owen and Krystal Kartwright.

I've been shopping at Alpenglow, Sports Exchange, and The Backcountry for a long time. All good. All worth visiting.

Our new favorite shop is Start Haus. We have been very well taken care of.
Hey there....Chappy aka John Chapman....one of the co-owners of the now defunct Porters. Alex and Steph and Kyle in recent years were running the Truckee store with Kathy, Ben, and before that the infamous Eric Alstrand et al running it back before I came aboard in 2000. It's been bittersweet to read things like yours and see all of the love and support in the final days of the shop last week. And of course I wouldn't blame you for migrating to the Start Haus - especially as we all left and the inventory and brands deteriorated the last couple of years. Schaffner is a good guy, my neighbor for the last 14 years, and actually a co-worker at Porters in 2000 and 2001 before he went his own way. So if it wasn't / isn't Porters anymore, yeah Start Haus should be your place.....
