headed to heavenly with family today...

where is the best place to park?

my aunt and cousin can barely make it down mountain run at squaw.

will they be able to make it back to the california lodge by skiing round-a-bout?

also, is there a legitimate parking lot by the gondola in town?

    thanks in advance!

you could try california lodge.there is a paid garage at the gondola. guessing it fills up at some point this time of year. if you go cali lodge they can download gunbarrel rather than roundabout.
you could also try stagecoach or boulder lot. stage might be difficult for them to get back to. boulder chair is sloooow.

Kirkwood still has some of that nasty loose stuff hanging around the north faces.

Good corn on the s face of Rose Knob, but lower down some of the exits favor skiers over boarders with lots of sidestepping and manzanita traversing.

Oh, and the coverage and conditions made me realize that time flies and it's already mid-April! Wow, what happened to the last 2 months ??????

Dude, no. This is the 2013-2014 Tahoe thread. Conditions cannot be good and you are not allowed to be stoked on them.

Looking to possibly do a fast trip over the Sugarbowl-Squaw traverse Saturday morning trying to get ready for the Wasatch Powderkeg. Anyone interested?

Not a fantastic or knowledgeable skier by any means, but psyched to get out. If avi risk jumps appreciably I'll probably put a pin in this.

Gimpy, how is the recovery going? I just read that they might fuse your ankle? If that happens contact Lou Dawson on wildsnow. He has skied hard for years on a fused ankle. You obviously have other things on your mind now, but he would be a good guy to talk to when you start thinking of skiing again.

This Saturday? There is a storm in the forecast. I know it is taboo to talk of such things, but if you are neither a fantastic nor knowledgeable skier, you may not want to go this Saturday. I hope, at least.

OTOH, I will likely be at or near KW on Sunday. Let me know if anyone plans to be around, and might prefer to tour and jump off shit if the resort is tracked out. I'll even take your picture.

I hope this doesn't sound like the brash kid who's going to do what he wants, as that's certainly not the case.

As intimated, I'm not the most knowledgeable, and would like to do this with a more experienced partner. It's a ridge traverse that seems to have manageable terrain (if that's not the case, please correct me as I haven't been up there yet). In the past few years plenty of the snow days predicted a week out have failed to materialize. Also, as indicated, I'm happy to pull the pin if things seem unsafe; a storm day at Squaw or Alpine isn't too bad of a consolation prize.

^ We have a wetter storm coming in Wednesday / Thursday and another one (maybe, probably) coming in Friday / Saturday. You should probably cancel your plans. These should be some of the better resort skiing days so far all season as long as the snow levels don't rise too much.

I had a blast at Kirkwood yesterday. Skied almost every major fun zone except for Palisades all the wall to Broadway chute in West Shore. Northern facing snow was hero snow even totally blower in hidden spots. Nothing better that 50F and pow right?

Oh yeah, I'm off to the Caribbean on Wed - so break out your powder snorkel.

    Ditch of Doom now open!!!!

    Banzai course...

Untracked Oops face....when was the last snowfall?
