Kwood skied good today on piste. Wanted to go for a tour but coral reef type conditions on many aspects suggested a different route.

Went for a walk today below Carson Pass. Consolidated unfrozen mank from 7500' to 7800'. Unconsolidated unskiable mank between 7800' to 8300'. Rain kissed pow from 8300' to 9000'. Wind hammered crust from there to 10k on open slopes, but protected north faces are holding good recycled pow up high.

Snowing lake level in Sunnyside.
Smoothie like conditions off KT saddle yesterday. Fun while it lasted.

Pretty impressive Hutchski pulled you back up the road, she is not a big girl. I probably would have just put ya down
Heal quick buddy!
Sad season with both gimpy and PD out of play. That's like the whole red lake / Stevens crew right there, cause you know that ottime never skis east of the CPSSR anyways.
Ill try to spend more time in those zones this season on 2 planks, for your guys.

I'll join ya for a few laps way out there seeing the crowds have gone down. Bummer.
Truckee_splitter, did you make it to tamarack yesterday, and how was the snow. I'm thinking of heading that way tomorrow.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using TGR Forums
Nice refresher. I guess we can thank powdork for his sacrifice. I was going to take credit for the fresh snow as I board my plane for Mexico, then realized I was going to at least get some small surf at least.
Tamarack was rough, not sure if the small refresh would help. Good coverage, but mostly frozen, even up high. Definitely stay in the sun and don't go early. Should be good corn sometime soon, just wasn't yesterday.
Can anyone suggest a 'wife friendly' tour in the Carson/Kwood area? Both on splits. Headed south from Truckee so anything in that corridor will work.
Elephant back is perfect for that and should have excellent conditions. Let me know if you need details

That'd be awesome, I can look at guides and such, but beta is priceless!
you'll head back on the main trail as though you are heading to round top. soon after round top (and moon couloir) comes into view elephant back will start to show herself up on the left. she looks like a big rounded elephants back from this angle. you're going to want to approach the left side of the hump. most people turn too early and that will force you to do some ups and downs, but nothing serious. i found an old picture
this shows basically where the trail splits. that's elephant back in the background. the skiing is on the other side. you would take the left here but if you cross two more drainages before turning uphill you can avoid any downhill. the current skin track as of last week is lower than this one so it will look slightly different. this will drop you on a flat spot where you can enter the bowl, climb up the shoulder, or drop off into some fairly easy chutes on the left. right above you on this flat spot should still be the kicker where i broke myself

Killer thanks PD!
Great news for conditions up on Tahoe Donner the new snow completely filled in all of the Runnels and its wind buff, fast and fun!!
Plenty of fun wind blown pow to be found at Alpine today. But, enough to cover all the bumps and hard snow.
Had a lot fun skiing some of my favorite parts of the mtn today.
Casa de Agua delivered today, 6-8" on top of a firm crust.
Snow skied great today, Spats pictured below

Low tide below 7800' on the west shore, but the snow up high was pretty awesome today!
