How come sierra avalanche website says 9-15 in the past 24 hours above 7500 ft and kirkwood is only reporting 4 inches overnight when their base is 7800 ft? This is hurting my brain. Did kw just fail to update the site?

what truth does the snow stake speak of?

StormDay is bailing on the storm day to get work done so he can ski the blue bird day?
Sounds like you may need a new screen name.

it is forecasted for partly cloudy!

Also, I skied yesterday and got my ice in beard fix. After that, skiing in the rain today was not that appealing. Or, dealing that Roundhouse liftline that you can see on Alpine's webcam.

That picture of the summit lift line is hilarious. I've never seen a line that long there. I'm so glad I'm not a bay area weekend warrior. That does not look like fun. And hooray for storms that clear on Monday for the locals!!!

It's more hilarious that that many people actually thought they'd run summit today.

Fingers crossed it stays white through the weekend, either way I'm just glad that CA is getting some form of precipitation finally, solid or liquid.....

They were going to, and then decided not at like 9:05. Storm picked up about then.

Not surprising, but I'm not as much of a pessimist downer as you've been in here of late...

Took dogs snowshoeing at Mt. Rose meadows. Windy and steady snowfall - looks like snow levels stayed above 7500' or so. Sky Tavern is getting slushy rain.

LOL, They are always "going to open" summit on storm days. It very seldom happens. Actually that was pure optimism on my part since I was not riding today . Makes me feel better knowing I'm not in that shit show. Now if I had actually drove to Alpine this morning, then I'd definitely be a pessimistic downer! It's just a basic fact that AM sucks during storms and that summit very seldom runs in them. Sorry you didn't know any better and wasted your day getting wet. I'll be optimistically riding midweek when it's good. I don't even know why I'm posting on this thread. Besides a few locals like gimpy and powdork, it's just match.com for over sensitive, middle aged male, bay area, weekend wannabees. I'll stick to lurking and poaching everyone's beta for my own sake. Bye.

The pow was epic this morning. The snow levels are high. STAY HIGH, and you will find the shreds you seek.

Seems like up until a few years ago, alpine was very good about keeping summit open during storms. Maybe more risk adverse after the girl got "lost" and died a few years back, but my recollection was having many good storm days riding summit.

In case you thought that picture of Summit was entertaining. Here's the pano of Roundhouse this morning about 10. Longer than I have ever seen it or anyone else has seen it in talking to longtime locals. The lines were also longer than ever at Hot Wheels and Yellow. The best call for today? Kangaroo laps....saw several people billy boating around from the top of kangaroo. The snow will make a good base until the rain washes it out tonight.

Oh yeah...that line stretched all of the way back to tower 3 at times.

This. I've had an Alpine pass or privileges on and off since 2001, and I've ridden it on plenty of mornings like this morning.

G2A, Yellow was ski-on after lunch. That was nice. Seemed like it was getting better in terms of conditions too.

Still snowing in the upper lot as of 2 pm.
