Summit opened around 11am. Got a couple good runs in the more protected areas. A couple places skied just over boot top deep.
Seemed like this snow was doing a good job over cover up the rocks skier's left of palisades and below palisades. The normal traverse from Henry's return (now called firing line) into High Yellow was usable (or like normal).
Edit: BTW Roundhouse did not start loading until 9:54am. Patrol was bombing lots of places between 9am and 9:50.
Rain crusty pow in spots at Kirkwood today. Still lots of obstacles off trail and man made ice on trail. Snow falling was wet.
Best day of the year so far, dumping all day and still coming down hard, boot deep plus in the tree's, no core shots. Finally!!!
Full on hurricane in San Rafael right now
It is snowing so heavy over the summit right now! snow levels are dropping, down to 4000ft. They are now calling for 1ft at 5000' and 3-4ft above 7000' over night, then snow levels rising to 7000' by Sat.night. YEAH!!!
Is this anyone here?

"Cup 'o Red in hand, Great day to re-imagine there aren't still rocks under all this fresh snow. Mother nature is doing her best and Mtn Ops will be on the ball at crack of 10 o'clock to get the coffee started and think about doing bombing routes. Not like its a level 5 avy area or anything but as soon as we think about it we will open things after you all leave. Winds should be light and variable at 80-100 mph.
I'm not sure but I think this is a direct quote that I over heard in the grocery store today.
No seriously, things that do slide will be BIG.
Yep, me. More (better) pics here:

light rain. lake level in sunny side.![]()
Nuking snow at Boreal past 8pm, rain in Truckee
powdork.com - new and improved, with 20% more dork.
Came over echo summit at 11:30 pm, snow accumulations are unimpressive to say the least. On the plus side I waited for over a mile in the chain control line at twin bridges, tons of people chaing up for basically a 1/4 inch of slush at the deep spots. Gonna be fun with the traffic this weekend already saw a Hummer augerd into a snow bank on north upper Truckee.
Thanks for the updates keep them coming please
Seems like a good day to spend at home and patch core shots and maybe go out in the afternoon if things improve.
raining at donner lake. snowed all yesterday but the snow never got over a couple of inches deep here. on the plus side winds pretty calm here, summit winds look about the same as yesterday when they were able to run summit at am.
Any of the Squaw guys want to chime in on how it is over there? I'm assuming rain at the base...
Man, skiing is the easy part.
"He does this, he says, because he can. I think there is a little more to it that that, however. I think he does it because he can, and you cannot." - PacRimRider1 about Leo Brayman
Squaw didn't even bother to schedule the funi today and made sure to point out there's no skiing/riding from the tram. Things are setting up for Monday according to plan.
Alpine just cancelled ski teams for the day.
The rain gauge at the Alpine's bottom has been counting rain.
It's dumping in Tahoe Donner! Time to get a couple runs. Looks like we only gained 3 inches but this is going to be a nice base.
