I mapped it and surprised that it is exactly the same time and distance. If snowing I take 207. Thanks for the comment.

I'll be up Friday, likely through Monday conditions depending. Ottime, spur laps?

while for sure a southern californian, liv2ski is an awesome dude... he brings a briefcase full of tourist dollars to the Tahoe basin yearly!

I laughed...so true though. How do you get to Kirkwood? My response: 'take 88.'

So it was you who booted my skin track! haha yup I found those tracks today, was wondering if I might see someone with them or not. You were really pretty close to the cabin, had you hung around you might have heard me hammering and drilling to build the last couple benches! Glad to know that my decoy skin track around it worked though

Snow out there is filling in quickly, and was getting pretty cement-like by the end of today. Did you hike back to the north facing side? Can't imagine the south side of any ridge would be good yet.

perhaps you should figure out which direction "your" water flows (insert winky face here)

I'll be around KW this weekend. I might owe Ottime a beer.

    Agreed.

I think Monday is going to be THE day because the winds are going to be impressive. My armchair thoughts...

Squaw upper mountain shutdown leaving only the crawling Red Dog and Resort Creek Chair to feed the crowds; no KT.
Rose Diamond and Heavenly on windhold
NStar will turn but the crowds and parking will be insane
    Kwood I dunno
    Homewood ?
    B/C too windy and wind-loaded

Sorry 'bout the late snow this year. I made the reservation in November, but think goddess Lilinoe waited until I was actually at her mountain (Haleakala) before bringing us some snow. She gets lonely and wanted someone to stay the night up high. I performed an ancient local purification ritual and sent the smoke skyward. Though I'm just a haole, respect gets respect and we'll have a season now.

Someone ought to head north and ask Negafook to chip in some cold air.

I'm sure his Hidden cabin is stocked with the WWW - Weed, Wisky and Women. Or it's a place to store the severed heads of boot packers.

Thanks J, I am rolling in on the 15th for the annual SLT trip. Will chill Saturday and likely Sunday with the non skiing wife. If you can bust loose that following week, lets meet up. I bought that fancy pass from Mammoth that gets me 50% off at Squaw/Alpine, so I didn't have to bug you for vouchers this season. Tahoe mags that need Mammoth Bring a Friend passes can PM me. Prayin for more snow.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Yeah, I did the north side right down the gut. It was easy to get in safely next to the rocks after dropping some cornice chunks down. There was just enough vis so I could open it up and ride it defensively.

Ever wonder what the Kusala bases look like?

    Or the top sheets?

Or a brutal day boot packing up a random coolie because your day's goal is miles of rocks away?

    a (few) more here.

"My" water goes down the Truckee to Reno and then disappears into the desert. At least until they start pumping it to Squaw.
Reno is also where the snow flurries we're having are headed--they're blowing straight sideways, not sure any hitting the ground.

Anyone been to H2O-house lately? Wondering what the snowpack is like that way. Trying to make the call for Sat, and it was my first thought.

Decided to stay home and work today. All those people standing in line on the AM webcam for the last hour at summit is making me think I made the right choice. Curious how squaw is. You'd think people would learn that Summit doesn't run in storms.

Ashley wanted to ski something Super Bowl(ish) on Super Bowl sunday so thats what I came up with. It's the ridgeline that runs from Elephant Back all the way around to where Forestdale Divide road tops out before heading down to Blue Lakes

Driven past it a few times since the snow last week, saw a couple folks coming out of there over the weekend, but it still looks very thin down low, hopefully that will change soon.

To be honest, I'm not sure exactly where. I was just following marching orders. Like a good soldier. Suffice to say, it would have still been a long day with 100 inches more of snow on the ground. Although, the coolie we climbed would have been a fun descent with just a few more feet.

This could be one of those storms where kirkwood gets 5' and the heave gets 5".

It is not allowed. But only if they harass you. You should be fine in a car. Park in a smart area. If you need some smarts, send me a PM. My mom told me I had a lot to spare.
