I'll be around. With a 2 yr old in the morning, but free skiing mid day.

I'm actually hoping the lifts don't spin. Then I get to tour all day long.

I'm guessing based on latest models 4-5' by Monday, with snow levels fluctuating between 5500 to start, 7000 over the weekend, and down to 5000 by Monday morning, good heavy wet snow to fill in the rocks and tree's, the only problem with KW will be periods of road closure from avi.. control, maybe 50 at twin bridges depending on how fast it comes down, and lots of debri runoff. AND we all know 80 will be a shitshow as usual.

Either way we will take every flake (except those from the Bay area). Just kidding. Tahoe NEEDS your money.

I hope not, I just read a little while ago 7k to 7.5k, and trending down slightly, if that happens where talking Flood runoff from melting snow, and a early end to a season that never started!!!!!!!!!! That would be Cali's luck this year.

I don't know where you heard 9k, I just checked all my sources again ( and they are very good) and they are sticking to 7-7.5K, which is fine for a good fill in.

Better bring your shell with taped seams for Sunday (except maybe KW). I'm thinking Monday is looking pretty good and won't be half the shit-show of Saturday.

Main concept has to do with the fact that the simple act of writing down your hopes goals dreams and aspirations helps them to come true

    Here is one source.

I was looking at freezing levels, and going with the assumption that AR events tend to have snow level near freezing level. I was not seeing anyone else talking about what I was seeing, then read BAs post.

Just saying, it is going to be waaaaaarmmmm on sunday.

And of course I also 'hope not', but people should at least be aware that there is a chance for some major run off if that does happen.

I can recall a similar event about a decade back during the Christmas holiday. Started with a limited snow pack, then snow, then warming. I was at KW where it was all snow, but got very wet before cooling off again. No one could get in from Tahoe due to flooding in Hope Valley, and many got their cars frozen into the snow due to not moving them as the temp drop and the bottom foot of slush turned into slush.

New Year's Day 1997--up to 9 feet of snow had fallen in the days before, turning to very heavy rain overnight New Year's Eve. By Jan 1 propane tanks and decks were floating down the Truckee, Donner Lake was up to the road. I had to drive down to Sac, in the Yuba River Basin just the roofs of 2 story houses were above water. This one isn't looking that bad. The NWS is more optomistic about snow levels than BA--so I'll go with the NWS.

New Year's Day 2004 or 2005 had 2-3 of water on Old 40 at Cisco. Nuts.

Nice! I did 2 laps in there today. I was without my split so I booted. Your skin track helped . I actually hiked back to *eaver for my 3rd run. It was excellent. Lol, where is that cabin?! The low visibility today made it easy to be stealth.

More importantly, Wobby, what is inside the cabin? Surely there must be something of interest. This is the internet version of getting cliffed out.

From Kingsbury is it faster to Reno on 207 or back to 50? Likely chain requirements in the basin Friday night. Thanks.

Wow, I haven't been on here in a long time. Lots of reading to catch up on.

I'm heading to CO end of month to visit son of sinecure. Going to ski two days at a Vail resort. Anyone have any passes/vouchers they'd like to swap for a pair of Alpine/Squaw day tickets? I'd love to avoid having to buy tickets. I'll create a general thread, but figured I'd post here since some of you work at Vail resorts here and might want to come ski Alpine/Squaw. PM me if interested.

I take the 50 back down to the 395. Takes about 75 minutes.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Southern Californians say things like "the 50" and "the 395". Northern Californians and the rest of the world just say "50" and "395". Perhaps you should go back down there (and leave our water here please). (insert smiley face here).
