    Shark Attack Stats

    Pretty interesting breakdown.
I always thought you had to be out past ten feet early in the morning to get bit,
looks like most of the noshing is done in five feet or less late in the day.

Oh man it's been bad in Hawaii this year. One woman is in critical condition right now with her arm bit off. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-...-shark-attack/

I'm quite surprised that attacks on surface recreationalists is so much higher than swimmers/waders. I question they're data.
They claim 0 attacks on divers in the last decade, but quick search found a fatal on an ab diver in 2004.

Very very sad. 50-100 yards seems kinda far out, probably outside the reef? I think Makena is a sandy beach, so I'm not really sure if there's a protected inside area there anyway.

I was spooked out of the water last week, by a 5-6 foot shark, I was waist deep at the outer sandbar fishing. I have seen a number of fish big enough to really mess you up caught within 100' of the beach.
