Subscribed. Thanks. Last year we went to the worst blandest Thai restaurant ever in slc on the advice of a former Iowan. It was like Thai for babies.

Which one, would love to file it in the do not eat list.

For Thai food, I went to Skewered Thai the other night for dinner, was pleased and will go back. I also like Chanon, though the GF prefers Ekamai so we don’t get to Chanon very often. Sawadee is ok. Not exactly Thai food, but I’ve been to East-West Connection a couple times and didn’t really like it - thought it was greasy and lacking in flavor.

^ skewered owns, their lunch buffet is great too

my favorite around downtown is Thai Chili, in the back of a dingy supermarket on I think state st, as it actually gets properly spicy

Mekong cafe. State st and something like 7800. It's just past the train bridge going north. Address is probably midvale. It's near that moochies (not downtown obviously)

I work over at BC out there, have you gone to Cafe Thao Mi in the same plaza? Bahn Mi's are great.
    Tacos Mi Carmalito,
    Bahn Mi's in Kim Than,
    Pupusaria Y Taqueria El Don,
Euro sandwich and deli (same plaza as el don),
Tacos y Jugos el morelense in the latino mall on redwood/parkway, best
Adela Tortilleria on Constitution, hole in the wall but great tacos.
    Shahrazad market for middle eastern
    Mariscos Ensenada

There are apparently a few african restaraunts in the area that I have been meaning to try, but I'm trying to save money and my waistline by bringing lunch to work recently. Having been working out here for 7 years I've got to explore a bit. Friends recently went to the Peruvian restaraunt out in the subway plaza across from the westerner they said was really good.

Their food was good the one time we went but the service was atrocious. Is it always like that? Ekami is good, Channon is good, Tea Rose in Murray is fantastic.

Skewered, or Thai chili? Skewered is usually good/decent service I think, but Thai chili is barely even a restaurant, I wouldn’t call what they have “service” really haha. I always get takeout though so I guess idk

I’ve only been once so far, but I did notice that the service was a little off. The waitress was REALLY hurried. They didn’t ignore us or anything like that though, my water was refilled a couple times I think.

Bad service is the kiss of death for restaurants in SLC. And unfortunately it’s a constant. The booze laws and Mormon date nights (Fri Sat) make it tough to get big check amts, which affects tips. There will never be a ‘professional server’ class in SLC like you get at great restaurants in other cities. It’s a bummer.

It’s Tofu in Cottonwood Heights down by the Target off Ft Union is awesome Korean food. Terrible name, great food.

Apparently, Harbor in SH has one of the best service in town, my coworker said it was all professionals, slightly older than the hipster class downtown, and presented fantastic and attentive service that on par with larger cities, so maybe there is hope?

Heh, in that neighborhood they must charge for Diet Coke refills to support themselves.
That’s good to hear though. I just can’t bring myself to go to that place

No surprise but it was indeed the best. I was always a Rizzo's guy (close to where I lived in Astoria) but will confess this was better. The best pizza I've ever had.

It also came after a night staying in the Bowery hotel, eating at One If By Land, Two If By Sea (the rabbit schnitzel was to die for), and celebrating my brother's wedding with an afterparty at the bar at the Bowery. If you can spend 24 hours in Manhattan, this is not a bad way to do it.

Sorry for the utter thread drift. When we landed, the only thing open I hadn't had was Yeti pizza via Ubereats. Let's just say it was a bit disappointing after the weekend

Anyone know if Pretty Bird actually opened??

2nd time dining at 350 Main in DT PC last month . Got a res for 10:00 and wasn’t totally swamped. Definitely a bunch of industry people in there though. With that said it may set the bar for dining in the Wasatch.

I got the the venison Vietnamese noodle soup. It was epic

Not for nothing but those prices seem high. Can score much better Vietnamese for much less. I'm not one who cares much for simply pay for the "experience" anymore. I been to enough fancy restaurants in my day. Looks tasty enough though.

That makes it worth like 5x the price? Meh...maybe to some but not to me. Are there many deer running around Vietnam?

Starting Whole 30 tomorrow so the opening should coincide with the breaking of the fast so to speak . Can not wait.

Also saw slapfish opened a PC location , I’ve perused the menu but never dined there. If I get a hankering for a$20 lobster roll might go every blue moon.

Also want to tip y’all off on the opening of PDQ in Lehi.

PDQ is a high quality quick serve restaurant. Think Chick Fil a with an expanded menu. Another excellent southern export (Jacksonville .

My go to is their fried chicken pimento cheese sandwich

Their tendies are solid as well . Come with a diverse selection of dipping sauces
