slc mags (now paging Red Baron)

Are you expecting any low presure to move in next week?

I've looked at countless websites trying to decide if I should postpone my trip or not. I've made this post in snow conditions and weather. And I pm'd Red Baron but, I need to make a decision in the next 24 hrs so, whats the word around town? Will the high pressure leave soon? Or will it stay?

Don't know. Checked the discussion for SLC and Jackson this morning, views on storm sort of differed. SLC implied that system might split and send pulses southward. Jackson seemed to be implying a large storm.

Maybe the Baron will help us out.

It seems that when the high pressure gets this prominent, you need a big ass storm to push it out of the way. Anything less gets split--but I really don't know anything about weather patterns. Thank you.

It looks like that could split. But I'm not a meteorologist.

Without looking at any maps or trying to delude myself into thinking that science can help me predict which week you ought to go skiing, here's my 2¢-
It hasn't snowed more than a couple inches for more than 2 1/2 weeks in the Wasatch. March is the wettest (read snowiest) month of the year around these parts. We're almost half-way through the month. I can guaran-dang-tee you that the last half of this month will be snowy. All powdery and soft.
If you can postpone your trip for just one week, just to increase your odds, you might want to. But, if by postponing you mean a few weeks from now, I'd stick with your plans and come and enjoy. Odds are that you'll have some snow while you're here.

Sorry for the delay, I've been in Canada for a week...

This forecast is a pain, we've got a mostly dry cold front for SLC on Saturday night - could bring a bit of snow (a dusting, perhaps), then another small storm on Wednesday, but nothing of consequence.

So yes, the high pressure will be gone, but aside from lots of clouds, not much will be happening as far as snow goes. I hate it when this happens in March.

On a positive note, I did get tons of yardwork done today...

RB - this is probably out of your realm, but does it look like points north (ie Jackson) are gonna get more action? I'm devising possible road trip plans....

Good to hear about the yard work. At least one of us did something today. I'm not changing my plans. It's just not in the cards.

Road trips are very possible. Especially when 2 live crew is playing in Ketchum.

    Thanks for the info RB.

Just like clockwork it started snowing on the Park City side on the 16th, and it's been more snow in the Wasatch just about every day since. Sunday through today has been completely off the hook. I hope you stuck with your plans! And you can thank me later.
