    UCI Protour scoring?

Anyone know where I can find the UCI Protour event weighting/scoring system? I googled the crap out of it with no luck. Perhaps I suck at the internet, but I thought maybe someone here would know.

I heard that a one-day Classics win counts for about 30 times the points of a TdF stage win. Is that true?

    Thumbs down

You would think it would be listed in here or on the ProTour website somewhere obvious, but once again, the UCI proves itself to be a convoluted, condescending, contradictory and obfucscating piece of crap.

It's not just you. Maybe it'll make sense to us peasants once the race results start to tally up.

FWIW, good article on the ProTour nonsense here.

I checked that-- it's the whole damn UCI regulations. There's about a gillion pages on the protour, but it generally is unreadable and I can't find the scoring in there, anyway.

Found this relating to UCI points and MTB.

    MTB Scoring

Otherwise, try this link and scroll down to page 55, from there down it gets into TdF points and all of the other races.

Nice, figured it was in there somewhere in between rulings on "spanners" and signing riders' souls away to satan.

    From Eurosport:

    POINTS SYSTEM

Points in the new UCI ProTour system will be distributed very much in the vein used by ATP tennis: After every ProTour sanctioned event and with a sliding scale depending on a rider's placing.

    Here's the official breakdown:

    CATEGORY A: Tour de France

    -- 100 points awarded to the overall winner, 75 for 2nd, 60 for 3rd, then 55, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 12, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point through 20th place.

    CATEGORY B: Tour d'Italie - Tour d'Espagne

    -- 85 points awarded to the overall winner, then 65, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 26, 22, 19, 16, 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point through 20th place.

CATEGORY C: Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Tour de Lombardie, Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico, Dauphiné Libéré, Tour of the Basque Country, Tour de Romandie, Tour of Switzeralnd, Tour of Germany, Tour of Benelux, Tour of Poland

    -- 50 points awarded to the winner, then 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5 and 1 point through 10th place.

CATEGORY D: Amstel Gold Race, Ghent-Wevelgem, Fleche Wallonne, GP de Plouay, Paris-Tours, Clasica San Sebastian, GP Zurich, Hew Cyclasics

    -- 40 awarded to the winner, then 30, 25, 20, 15, 11, 7, 5, 3 and 1 point through 10th place.

    World Championships

    -- 50 points awarded to the winner, 40 for 2nd, and 35 for 3rd.

    Tour de France - Stage

-- 3 points awarded to the winner, 2 for 2nd, 1 for third.

Other major stage races - Stage

-- 1 point awarded to the winner.

Nice win by Bobby Julich at Paris-Nice, for now he is the Pro Tour leader:

    Points awarded at Paris-Nice
    Individual
    1. Bobby Julich (USA) CSC 50 points
    2. Alejandro Valverde (Sp) 41
    3. Constantino Zaballa (Sp) 35
    4. Jens Voigt (Dk) 31
    5. Jorg Jaksche (G) 25

Though I doubt he is going to be wearing the leader's jersey for long, he's looking good and it's still early season he might be a potential podium finisher for the Tour, though CSC probably has a few of those.
