Ramsey had an absolute screamer for arsenal today. Where is this form on the weekends?

    Yeah that was sweet.

Great set piece goal by StevieG and stupid red card by Marcovic in the Liverpool game.

Ramsey strike was nice. 99x out of 100 that ends up in the 30th row.

Didn't start the fantasy league until week 4. Trying to climb into the top 3,000,000. I joined with the Men In Blazers league and don't pay too much attention.
I will admit to being addicted to the Men in Blazers show and podcast. Feels like Monty Python and/or the Young ones talking Soccer. I like that the new TV show is still low budget and sub-optimal.

Men in blazers is pretty entertaining. I like how you get a bit if English culture in relation to the bpl. Way better than alexei lalas and Taylor twellman commentary

Might as well start a general Footy/Soccer thread

As a US person who played soccer (college and some semi before the league started) and a huge fan of footy universally -

    1. Lalas was an amazing player (he was player of the year at Rutgers and we played them 2X he had goals both times. Amazingly strong in the air and made me feel like a boy among men. That said he is terrible sportscaster. I do think Winalda is really good. Period. And conradinho is funny and has developed his own fan base.

MIB and English and Euro broadcasters and commentators on the game have a pretty unique and seasoned view of the game and it's history. The history, the wins, the collective dramas, the character go a long way in understanding the underlying themes of the games beyond just each game. Europe and England have rich history. That could be their greatest legacy - almost akin to family feuds like the Hatfields and McCoys. It goes a long way and MIB gets this - even if you the viewer don't fully comprehend the richness.

It's tough to make up ground if you've missed the first 4 weeks!

I'll have to check out the men in blazers. I get most of my football from the fantasy football blogs and an online subscription so I can watch on the weekends.

MIB is hands down my favorite TV show. The podcast (my favorite pod) is outstanding as well. As a long-time follower of the EPL they do an outstanding job of knitting everything together to provide a great and authentic perspective on the storylines.

I'm getting email notifications that there have been new posts, but don't see anything in the browser. This is the only thread I've found so far with this problem. And now that I've posted this, it shows up as the first post since 12/9. Anyone else getting this?

And in case this hasn't yet been answered: while The Guardian podcast is England-centric, it's nowhere close to exclusive. They do a rundown of the big news in the major European leagues plus a full-length segment on one, e.g., they'll have their Bundesliga guy in one week but focus on La Liga the next

Captain Obvious observation: BeIN Sports announcing is atrocious. Like an amateur Tommy Smyth caricature plus a small-town local news announcer with a one-page cheat sheet on soccer. Reminded me to be grateful for NBC getting their act together for their PL coverage

^^^^ agreed. Hudson's shtick is annoying and the other dude sucks balls. Preferiria ver estos partidos en espanol porque los comentaristas gringos estan pinche burros. Y puedo aprender espanol a lo mismo tiempo, tambien.

I don't know how PSG got past that referee with the hair trigger red on Ibrahimovic, penalty gift, and blind eye to the Costa's garbage. Hell of a game from PSGs end to win it in extra time having played most of it with 10

So last season Stevie cost them the Prem League. And now this season he probably cost them a top 4 finish. Captain Fantastic will fit in perfectly in the MLS.
