Big surf in NorCal Wed, 3/9

Big f*#%$ing waves expected tomorrow. I'm so bummed I have to be in the city at 9 am. (just to clarify lest there be any confusion, I would not be riding said big waves, but rather watching. I'll stick with the 3 footers )

    ------------------------------
    Hey gang,
The Mavericks Contest may be history but that doesn’t mean Mavericks stops breaking. For the past week we have been watching one of this year’s biggest swells coming together. The outer
Buoys are the biggest we’ve seen in the past five years or so. And the
entire coast of California is on a high surf advisory for the
    next three days.

At last check the Southeast Papa Buoy reached
30 ft swells at 20-second intervals. Basically when this swell
hits Mavericks the waves will be double that size. As we speak crews are
on their way out to Cortes Bank the worlds newest Big Wave Surf Spot
located one hundred miles west of San Diego. Also guys are gearing up
and heading out to Todo Santos Island another well-known Big Wave
spot just south of Ensenada Mexico. The first giant sets should
start rolling in at day break Wednesday morning. We installed a new cam
so keep an eye on it early. Peter Mel, Skindog and few other main
players are heading back from Hawaii to join the rest of the Mavs crew.
They will be ready to Tow Mav’s in the morning. Should be a great show!
    (if it's not foggy)

thanks for the heads, up. been too busy to think about surf lately. biiggest swell in 5 years just reprioritzed stuff. towing mavericks is totally different from paddling, I think I'll be on the cliff.

    MAVERICK'S
Grab your steel ones, this is Adam with the report for Wednesday morning at 6:35AM.
    SURF
15-20 ft. - 3-4 times overhead with occasional 30 ft. and fair+ conditions.

AM UPDATE: Heavy fog along the coast this morning so it is very hard to judge size...the buoys are pumping so expect large (even hazardous) surf at pretty much all W-NW facing beaches. Best bet will be to look for a more protected spot or a point (or reef) that can handle this much size. We will try and post a new update if we can get some better visibility.
    Buoy# 46012 (Half Moon Bay) at 6:30AM was running 15.7 @ 20-seconds.

If you're a mortal, and 30 footers are not your bag baby, Fart Pt under the Golden Gay bridge should be getting some refraction action.

mavericks was large and foggy, it was so hard to see I was having silly ideas about paddling out to the south shoulder
initial whitewater implosions were at the underside of the pacifica pier
    OB: big and jumbled
    potato patch breaking all day
fort point: DOH+ with outgoing tide, one guy sucked out to baker, looked just like SP #3 photo
fort point pier (half a mile E of GG brige) 20 longboarders on two shin high lefts
    china beach-deadmans: OH+ and packed

I can't believe I left my surfboard and wetsuit in WA. I am an idiot. It will be nice somewhere along the Marin coast when I return in April.
