Nah, I'm good. I like to support great companies like Surly and QBP who actually contribute to innovation and culture in cycling instead of "Linda" and his after-hours production, no QC, zero liability, IP stealing, bottom feeding, Ali Baba bullshit. But thats just me, YMMV.

2nd mission out on the ICT Ops. 2 rides in. Embarrassingly giggly when riding it. Good times.

Feels like good old time mountain biking. When everything was harder and a little sketchy at speed.

I'm gonna need some 5" tires.
Hoping to get some rides on my 4.0 studdys iffin it evah snows here.

    ^you bought the studs...nice!

We just got 3-4" of wet heavy shit and it's still coming down as mostly rain/ice now. Should pack down well for some good snow riding before it melts.

Wonderful. Hours and hours of sleet topped with hours of freezing mist. The whole place is a fucking ice cube. As useless as the sun is this time of year we need all we can get, temp NEEDS to get above freezing so I can get out and ride.

    ^^heheh

@SJ - We got lucky. Not long after I posted it popped above freezing and started melting. Nasty shit out there now is gonna turn into some impressively gooey mud in a hurry. We've had rain of some sort at least 21 days so far this month, some days were just wire to wire damp but a bunch were a half inch or more. It needs to freeze up SOON.

We have had similar weather. But last night it froze hard and started snowing. It changed from 4" of unridable slush to a smooth supportive crust this morning.

Mid 30s today meant a sloppy, snowy, fun as hell fat bike ride. Tomorrow will be a bit warmer, bring on the muck.

I went with a Carver carbon fork instead of a Bluto and have no regrets. I found the Bluto to be a flexy mess with limited adjustability. The Carver is extremely stiff, damp and saved me 2 pounds.

Nothing against suspension, but there really aren't any fat bike suspension forks out there that are worth it. I'm holding out for better offerings next year, like maybe a Pike or Fox 34 based fat bike fork.

Love how my bike feels with a lighter front end. For my style of winter riding it feels great. I'm not ruling out suspension down the line...

Back when it was a mud/slush fest, I had to spray my bike off after every ride.

Now, 30-40 minutes into my morning ride, my X1 der is freezing up and I'm losing my high gears.
I assume I have some moisture in the cable. Anyone have an easy fix?

Lin da is actually building the same bikes on the other shift for the big companies...the big manufacturers are just jacking prices up 400%. Dealers make lots of the profit, but most of the time they are shitty middlemen.

Haha ......yeah keep it real and upper crust for cost......keeps the gapers off the trail, that is sure working nice. Horses are our biggest threat and you want everyone to spend more.

I recently upgraded to the regular (blue) Ice Cream Truck from a Necro Pugs. 100mm rims + a Bud/Lou is incredible. Huge difference compared to the bud/3.8 nate combo I was running on 80mm rims. My % of walking the steep climbs on my neighborhood trails has pretty much dropped to zero. My only regret is not going with a fatter rim/tire sooner.

How much 'profit' do you think dealers are making on a complete bike? Care to hazard a guess?

Did Linda do the R&D on geometry and get the carbon layup and ride quality dialed in?

    And....horses? Really?

Yup. I gotta get some 5" tires. Everybody is telling me Bud and Lou, but has anybody ridden the new Maxxis tires? I love Surly, but I'm totally ghey for all things Maxxis.
