    Havasupai How-to

For anyone thinking about doing this, I can't recommend it enough. For anyone not thinking about visiting this place, I can't recommend it enough.

Take a left at vegas and follow this road until it dead ends

Hike the 10 miles in and pick out a good camp spot, from what I could tell there weren't any bad ones

We talked to quite a few people that were hiking in, spending that day in there and then out the next morning. IMO, that's not enough time. Give yourself a few days, you'll want to have time to explore and also lounge around.

swimming into this is a lot harder than it looks

the signs that say no jumping/diving seem to just be "informational"

however when the signs warning you about the hike down to money falls say it's rugged and dangerous, they aren't messing around

it's well worth the climb down/out

you might want to pack your own nighttime entertainment

however the free shows aren't half bad

Always wanted to go there - so beautiful.

Place has been getting some bad PR lately. I've heard that the reservation is having a problem with drug addled teens hassling/assaulting/stealing from the tourists. Obviously you didn't have any problems while you were there so maybe the tribal police are getting a handle on it.

We didn't have any issues but definitely saw some young teens who were clearly on something hanging around town. I felt totally safe there and on multiple occasions left my camera gear unattended at the camp site while we went other places. Maybe I just got lucky.

I did see reservation police around town, I don't think I remember seeing them out around the falls or camping areas though.

one more. probably took it too far with this one but just started playing with some new HDR software and was taking a bunch of bracketed shots while down there, finally getting around to merging them.

    Wow, great shots.

I was there in 2006, a year or two before there was some massive flooding and a bunch of helicopter evacuations. Havasu falls and it's pool look quite a bit different, and those falls with people jumping off weren't even there at the time. I've heard Navajo falls got destroyed also.

It's definitely worth spending at least a few days down there. If you're ambitious, making it down to the Colorado river is a pretty awesome day hike/scramble.
My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.

The flood was in 08. You can tell they had to manually recreate a lot of those pools, if you look close when you're there you'll notice what you first thought was a rock is actually a sand bag covered in calcium.
