    Flickr changes

I got an email from Flickr about the changes last night. Looks like they've upped the storage amount and you can upload full res pics. Looking at the site this morning, the layout looks better and there are now ads. Thoughts? Anything else I'm missing?

The layout is obviously the most evident change -- not sure I like it. The pages seem a bit slower to load. I use Flickr mostly for storing and posting, so don't need the snazzy look. Plus, two of features that I use most are now either one step further or missing. EXIF data now requires one click to even see the basics + another click to see fully. And I used to love looking at the geotagged locations of many of the shots, but for some reason cannot see any geotag maps on any shots. Not sure if I'm missing something (i.e. it's hidden under some option). This was huge for me, especially when traveling to a new place.

I'm a pro user on Flickr, so nothing has changed for me other than presentation.

I like it. It's about time. Websites need grow up a little, IMO, and this was a very nice change of design.

It's all about Tumblr + Flickr.

^ I guess I should clarify. I don't mind the new look itself; just the fact that the most important feature I used (location of shots) is now missing + another one (EXIF data) requires a bit more digging.

Wow, this might be the first free photo site that I actually like. The old 200 picture limit was super lame.

Yeah, the 1 TB of free storage is awesome. Haven't had a chance to play around on the site yet.

I'm currently paying for a pro account but it seems unnecessary now with 1TB free.

I had problems, too. Lots of time the upload would seem to be almost finished and then just hang. The only way to resolve it was to start over. Did you see the same kind of behavior?

Yes, this is strange. I can't find it either. If you go to a set there's a tab on the top for "map" but I haven't seen this when viewing a photo not in a set. They need to fix this feature.

Theres a utility that allows you to store any file format so that you can use that 1TB any way you like.

    https://github.com/meltingice/flickr-store

This might entice me to abandon photobucket.

yup, that exactly. really gets frustrating when you can't spot a trend. magnified by the fact that i usually edit/upload photos at a time of night in which i should be sleeping. i had no issues uploading on the new release, and upload time was quite a bit quicker.
