    New APC Lens from Sigma

    APS-C... damn fat fingers...

Actually looks to be a nice idea.... would be a great lens for my quiver to use on a T2i... Wonder where it'll come in price wise.

Wow, a fixed f/1.8 through those focal lengths would be money if it looked good. Would make an excellent indoor lens for sure. Interesting to see images from this thing when it hits the wild.

The art series 35 f/1.4 has received some favorable reviews.

    For a constant f/1.8 lens? I'm guessing $800-1000.

Seems like an odd range for an APS-C lens; it's a more appropriate lens for full frame, I'd think.

28-56 is weird. But, It covers 3 of 4 most popular short prime focal lengths (relative) in one lens at 1.8. I think if it could pull-off even close to prime quality it's a brilliant range for an ultrafast zoom on a crop. And it creates fast focal lengths that you can not get on a crop currently. You can't get a fast 28mm equivalent on a crop. the Canon 24 f/1.4 is about 38mm equivalent but is also $1500 and the Sigma 1.8 is $550. The 35 f/1.4 which will get you to 56mm is an additional $1500 or you can go down to f/2.0 for less. If I still used a crop camera this would be the first lens on my wish list.

You're right, I wasn't even thinking about it covering prime lengths as it relates to portrait work... I was thinking landscape use only. I'll increase my estimated price to $1200.

FWIW, both of the Oly f/2.0 zoom lenses retail for well over $2K.

Given that f = focal length divided by pupil diameter, I'm guessing that any longer than 35mm and they'd lose the constant f/1.8 aperture. That's why it's a "funky" range.

Pricing announced at $800 in the US. That's a really attractive price point.

If it's any good IQ wise I think it would be an instant no-brainer for any crop shooters bag.

Pardon my skepticism, but I would wait until the production model hit real users and tried in real world tests before a website testing a pre-pro model with promo links to buy sites...

I was gonna wait until I saw real life tests anyway, rather than just statistics,

$800 is good price for that lens so long as it's not a POS..

If anyone sees some reviews on this post them up. I'm sure it'll be a little while.
