We’re in between 2 major AR events. About 30” from the first, round two coming in cooler and equally potent Sunday.

The So Cascades are looking good this year, maybe even better set up for spring with warmer storms than last years epic snowfall.

Anyway, here’s some pics

I'm glad I looked in here to see that somebody is having good skiing.

Although we had a slow start, we quickly made up for it and our snowpack is “normal” for the season.
What I’m stoked about is the early storms were warmer than we’ve seen in several years so I’m hoping this sets us up for the magic corn conditions, especially on the upper mountain. The cold pow which makes for great winter skiing gets blown away by spring and above 11 has been just ok. There’s been a lot of upper mountain lines in this year with favorable conditions and people are getting after it
In the meantime, Saturday was one of the best days in recent memory. After 30” of new, the temps dropped and clouds parted and we had near perfect volcano pow at all aspects and elevations. After 8,500’ of touring, I couldn’t take another step.
The next storm has started and we should see a few more feet with a lot of wind. All lifts on hold at the ski park currently.

You know it’s a good year when the BG tours come out.

It was feeling like winter for a minute or two. It’s been a good run, looks like a break for us but our snowpack is measuring 130+ at OSb

Skied Shasta on Saturday, yesterday.
Got up to 11,500, too tired to continue. First real bc day this season.

We were the only people on the mountain until we started to ski.

Beautiful day, lots of snow.
East facing softened by 1130.

Very wind affected, skied well though, except for few patches of smooth looking snow where the skis dove unexpectedly.

rod, we skied Saturday too and couldn’t believe how quiet it was. Did you ski past our group of 4 just below Helen? We found great wind pressed pow and it was such a beautiful day.

It looks like the forecast bumped a bit this week and more snow coming, maybe a lot by the weekend.

In the category of mother nature is in charge: "ran over 3 miles and 5,000 vertical feet down Avalanche Gulch proper. It has walls up to 60 feet deep and debris piles even deeper."

Good thing the road to Bunny Flats was closed.

You don’t get days like this often. Amazing snow quality while checking out the slide path. A rare magical day on Shasta.


Looking up from Helen. No visible clues to start zone. Path visible from 10,800’ to 7150’ I would guess it started higher from all the snow entrained and the distance ran
