    Triple Double Top 3-3-05

Skied the north aspect of Double Top twice, then the east face once. Hence the triple double.

    East Face of Double Top.

    Ridge on Double Top.

North aspect of Double Top. We are standing in North Fork-High Creek. Skied the line just lookers left of the big rock.

45 degrees on average. The gully had slid and we were skiing the nasty, icy bedsurface. Toby made the comment "Just like the black ice couloir"

Stoy, Gramps, APD, check out this line. Saw the cornice off and it would be good to go. Estimating 45-55 degrees.

    Skinning out of High Creek.

Stoy, these peaks are just north of the Wellsvilles. What are they called?

Some loser hanging out on the summit of Double Top.

We sawed the cornice off and Toby got first turns in the couloir. I skied this couloir a while back with Twoplanker and Stoy. Icy today.

Line goes down short couloir, then across into the next short couloir. Interesting place.

Toby breaking crust in the lower couloir.

Toby wishing the next 1,000 foot apron wasn't chunky, icy, choss.

Did ski some nice pow on our second lap on the north side of Double Top. About 1,000 verts of 40-45 degree pillowy trees. Very enjoyable.

I would have rather been on the West Face of Timp today, but Powstash would be unemployed if we had done that.

nothing to see here - self pitty is all

    Nice pics.

Yea, still employed, although SERIOUS JONES has set in. The type of jones that a simple pre-work dawn patrol can't fix. I didn't have the desire to get outta bed this morning knowing that I wasn't climbing/skiing Timp. First thing I do this morning is get up and look outside - DAMN YOU RB - it's sunny! <sigh>

Remember when I told you about an extremely large, wide open, western face that would be good for skiing spring corn? The ridge is HUGE!!! and the consistent fall line could be a few thousand.....that's the range. Park on the west side, come over for sunrise, ski the east face, then south face, then west face and back to the car.

Thanks for reminding me. next week? by the way, all i know of them as for name, Caribou Nat'l Forest. about a 1hr drive from my place.

Is there really a yurt up there? Holy shit! I was thinking of a colleagues husband who ranches cattle up there. He has a small heli he flies to find his cows in the fall. Keep forgetting to ask if they would like to, well, you know, fly me up there over and over.
