    Shoreline Trail Users

I just got this email from FIDOS (which is a group about preserving open space where you can walk your dog, but this looks like it affects MTBers/hikers too).

"Attention all who enjoy the trails south of Red Butte Gardens:

If you enjoy this area, you need to speak up. Attend the public meeting, find out what is being proposed!!

The new Utah Museum of Natural History is scheduled to be built on the 17 acres directly south of Red Butte Garden and Arboretum.
The site will be placed directly over the shoreline and
adjacent trails and climb up the hill behind the trails until it is too
    steep to stand up.

Here is a pdf file of the proposed location, you can print this documents make comments in the supplied area and mail it in if you can not make

the meeting: http://www.millcreekfidos.org/ (you'll have to click the link from their page to make this work)

Comments regarding the placement of the new building must be submitted by March 16
2005. There will be a public meeting March 8, 2005, 7-9 pm at "University
Guest House" located at the U of U, 110 South Fort Douglas Blvd. Mailed
    comments should be sent to:

South of Red Butte? meh...pretty boring trails there. Although the trail runners (including my wife) would be pissed.

Still trail loss sucks, but natural history museum sounds cool.

I hear ya, but that's the trailhead we use to get up to the rest of the trails. Not a huge deal - we can park somewhere else... but I hate seeing that trend - not to mention, is that just going to result in even more hikers, dogs, joggers, etc up on the rest of the trail? It's pretty damn crowded already over in that area.

I think it's worth going to the meeting to hear more about it at a minimum.
